Florida Big Garage Outlaw Idea

Hey guys, I recently moved out of Florida, and while I don't miss the flat long roads, I really miss the parking garages. The town I live in now has one four story garage, and its really mellow...so here is my idea.

I will be in the Tampa area as well as the Miami area during my winter break and want to set up a parking garage outlaw session. I am very willing to put the time in to organize it, make t-shirts and the whole bit, but I gotta know that there is some interest out there. I would love to hold a Tampa session and a Miami session, but we'll have to see how much interest there is.

Obviously I am thinking very early here, but I want to make the most of this!

Hey Geoff, well when you come to Miami I am definitely in for sure.... You might want to post that your thinking about doing this in the South Florida Skateboarders thread that is where most of us hang, talk and or plan to meet. Keep this thread alive to.

I'm down for the tampa session, sounds like a great time. if your wanting some tshirts made, check out CustomInk.com, i've ordered from there before and they do some decent work.

Great! I am excited, it looks like there will be some interest. I will have my plane tickets in the next weeks or so, and I will post tentative dates soon as well. I have a buddy who should be able to help with some shirts so that will be underway soon as well. I may have a deck or two lined up as prizes, and it shouldn't be too hard to find a couple sets of wheels and some other fun stuff.

I will also work on some posters, and if I could get a few volunteers to post them in a few shops and on the local campuses that would be sick. I went to USF in Tampa so I may be able to get in touch with a few skaters there as well.

you think you can get comet to sponsor it if it is big enough?

Um...I don't know if Comet specifically would sponsor it, but I have been trying to round up a board sponsor. It would be awesome to give away a deck or two as prizes.

im down, i will be there if i can. id like to try to put together a sort of series of push races, slalom, slide comps and some "dh" (i use that term lightly, since we are in fl, lol) during the winter (late dec- feb) so if i can get that going maybe your garage outlaw could be included? my basic idea is to provide some competition and community for florida longboarders. 1 event might consist of a few different competitions and a freeride. i would be relying on ppl to provide me with info abt their local spots to hold event at.

I'm down if this is still applicable. I live close and could stay with friends. That would be awesome.

EDIT: I have at least three friends (maybe even six but three are undecided) that would come with me. So definitely the four of us.

EDIT: And like everyone else was saying, if you get some posters or something eventually let me know and I'll pass some around Manatee/Sarasota County.

Yeah I am sure we could do something like that. I would also like to know if anyone knows about any local ditches, I always knew there were some around and I would love to hit a few sweet ditches. I also am not too familiar with the local garages so I might need some help scouting them.
