    Default South Carolina Ditches

    Hey guys,

I just ordered my first longboard a few days ago, and original apex 37 with s8's and abec 11 gumballs. I can't wait for it to get here and start riding.

anyways, i'm looking for good places to ride in Greenville, Clemson, Anderson or anywhere around those areas in South carolina. I would like to find some ditches but if you know of a good hill in those areas i'm open to anything. I have been to the ICAR garage in greenville but i hear a lot of people got kicked out and threatened to be arrested because its private property. Anyway, let me know of some low key places you like to ride.

I haven't been to ICAR in a while but I've never been messed with in any way there. I always went on Sundays. I even skated there once with a guard's blessing. I'm 32 years old too though, and I very seldom get any heat from anyone anywhere I skate. It's got a lot to do with your attitude and how you talk to people. If someone approaches you, go towards them, don't run, and be polite.
I know where a ditch is in Columbia, but it probably IS hot. I only hit it for a minute. I have a lot of spots spread out over a wide area in the upstate. You should try housing developments, Paris Mountain, and cruise the hills over that way. Sounds like you're on a carving setup, so be careful on the big hills.

Thanks for the tips. The one time the guard asked me to leave ICAR he was extremely nice and just explained why i shouldn't skate their but some others were threatened. They may have been rude or doing other things, i'm not really sure. there is a new park across from embassy suites on verdae that has some long hills thats fun to ride. Its a new neighborhood thats not developed and the hills aren't too steep, that place is fun.

I'll be sure to check it out if I'm ever up that way. If you're up for the ride come down and we'll hit my local spots sometime. There's something for everybody. 803-209-2759 is my number, my name is Jamie. I work part-time at ZigBoys skate shop on Union St. in Spartanburg. We hope to carry Ground Industries longboards and wheels in the near future, but as of now we carry no longboards. We can order some, depending on the brand. Our distributor recently added Landyachtz, so we can get some of the more high end stuff. If you want to start shredding some steep hills and nearby mountain roads, consider investing in something lower and more speed oriented. The Landyachtz Evo is a good choice, it makes high speeds easy, but if you want a good balance of stability and manueverability, a good symmetrical shaped drop through or flush mount like the Comet FSM or the Ground Industries Fix would be a good choice. With Ground, you'd be supporting a Greenville based company. They have some nice looking wheels too.

Good to know. My next board will probably be a landyachtz, either an evo or dh race but don't have money for one at the moment. I'll definately check you guys out when i'm ready to buy.

I'm off next Tuesday. I've been wanting to try to get up with you guys for some time, I've just been either working or can't afford the gas. I actually rode Altamont with a dude named Madison last winter, the first part of this year. If I can set aside some gas money I'd like to check you guys out this coming Tuesday. My name is Jamie.
