charleston is such a dirty ass city. i was in a car accident coming back from new york and my buddy totaled his brand new car so we had to take a bus from NC back to florida. he forgot his shoes at the crash site so i bought a pair of flip flops off some crack head outside of the greyhound station in charleston for $3 and a black n mild.. thats one gritty city to say the least. alot of awesome stuff to skate in NC though, take advantage of dem blue ridge mtns!!

    Eric,

Nick is an idiot. There is no bus station in Charleston. It's in North Charleston, 10 miles away. And the bus station is in the nastiest part of North Charleston.

    BUT

To answer your question, Charleston ain't called "the Lowcountry" for nothing. This town is FLAT. I mean completely without terrain. If you like to push and pump then maybe you'll do OK but you are not going to find a hill to cruise or even a grade. This place is FLAT.

There's a few garages downtown but I've never been impressed with them. The big problem is most of the garages are attached to hospitals and that means 24-hour traffic. Not like it calms down after 5:00 and the skaters have it to themselves. The other couple of garages (Queen Street, the Aquarium) are OK but I've always been bummed because it's almost as though they installed the gnarliest expansion joints they could find to keep skaters from having fun.

When you get here post on SL and we'll see what's up. Of course, the other thing is January can be really wet. Not anything freezing but that continuous cold gray rain that just blankets a town for days sometimes.

And trust me when i say this: if anyone is in Charleston they MUST travel at least 30 miles inland to find the first thing in any way resembling a hill. I live in Summerville . . . 30 miles inland. We got maybe a grand total of three or four skatable hills. Other than that it's about the same as Charleston.

North Charleston has improved. In 2008 it was the 8th most violent city in America. Now it's ONLY #22.

And the bus station is right in the middle of where it all goes down.

anything below the fall line is going to be flat.

Above the fall line you will find some stuff here and there.

to really get going your going to have to travel to the the upstate (4 hour drive). I live in Clemson, SC. I am always down to show you some of our local DH runs.

SOOOO, Im in Charleston have been for about a week. Scoped out a few decent runs the Aquarium Parking garadge wasnt bad kinda slow but decent. then as i was driving across the bridge to go to patriots point i noticed something amazing!.... THE BRIDGE IS A HUGE HILL!!!! What kind of crazy irony is that?!?! I posted a pic of it in an earlier posting!! Anyways, it has a 12ft wide bike path on the eastbound lane, and aside fomr the constant pedestrian tourist and or work-out people traffic it looks like a bad ass ride! I havent hit it yet but def plan to this weekend!! PM me if your down to join!

The cooper river bridge is definitely a MUST RIDE. Though I gotta warn you the cops in Charleston are pretty quick to run you off in most places. But hey if the roads are clear just ride and smile, usually the popo will just yell for a little while and send you on your way.

Sweet! Yeah im pretty stoked to go ride it. So are the cops bad? or are they .....ok.... with longboarders on the bridge.... ? If they see me is it an immediate hey the F off the bridge with that God forsaken skateboard..... or do some of them just drive by and ignore it?
