South Charlotte, NC Kids - Places to Ride?
Hey I take my dog out around my neighborhood in South Charlotte but wanting to do something a little bit longer distance. The Greenway on Park Rd is right by me but when I ran it, it had some wooden bridges. I know that there are several other greenways so I wanted to see if anyone had any experience with the greenways, which one is the best, or any other good cruising areas in South Charlotte...
PS - has anyone been to the Ballantyne Parking Garage? How is it?

Re: South Charlotte, NC Kids - Places to Ride?
I'm back in Charlotte for winter break (I go to school in Raleigh) and am also wondering the same thing. There's some hills in neighborhoods that are pretty good around the Stonecrest/Endhaven area where I live, but all the Ballentyne parking garages have gigantic expansion joints everywhere that make them pretty much impossible to ride down! When it stops raining I definitely want to try out the Greenway, it wasn't nearly as long a few years back.

Re: South Charlotte, NC Kids - Places to Ride?
The hills are really inconsistant, so everything you find will most likely be a straight bomb, less than 1 minute............
you could try golf courses, they're usually really windy and fun, though they're really tight...
edit: I've been wanting to check out the greenway too, but haven't gotten a chance to check it out.
do any of you happen to have a link to the map, or a google maps page so i could look at it?

I just moved to Rock Hill. I would rive to Charlotte to ride if I knew any good spots. Mill villages are good places to find corners and short speedy runs.

Re: South Charlotte, NC Kids - Places to Ride?
By the way what is a greenway? Also, anyone within an hour of Rock Hill, I don't just need new spots, what I really need is someone who's down to ride fairly often on the weekends. I have reliable transportation and I'm willing to drive to the mountains too, I just need a few good partners. I have a couple of decent spots in the Rock Hill area, and I have a few great spots in Union SC where I used to live. You'd think there'd be a pretty large contingent of longboarders at Winthrop University, but no luck in finding any yet. Charlotte is not far from me, so anyone who wants to get a session together we'll see what we can do.

Here's the greenway stuff we're talking about:
Park and Rec Greenways
Some are better than others so you guys will have to post up if you ride them. The Park Rd route is close to me so I'm going to check that out soon.

If anyone feels like riding I live literally next to the Park road greenway and I'm here on and off throughout the year. Just shoot me a PM.

hey are there any experienced skaters in the south charlotte area here?
i'd love to skate with other people, but it'd be even more awesome if there were some people that were relatively around the same skill level......

I just started sliding not too long ago, I mainly skate at night in charlotte though, daytime is to the mountains for longer runs.
Nice neighborhood street though.

Well.... The parking garages in Ballantyne are pretty mellow.
Just to let you guys know if you didn't already. Wallerbears has started carrying Land Yachts, Loaded and Bustin Lot more wheels and a few new trucks at a pretty decent price. I got my Land Yachts Evo for 210 from wallerbears.
Someone told me there is a new spiral in town, going to check it out and see what happens, I'll et you guys know...

Re: South Charlotte, NC Kids - Places to Ride?
umm like luffty said the hills around here are pretty bad. .."less than a min" is correct. you could try out the hill going away from blankney and stoncrest on the other side of 485. idk what the road is called but its behind stoncrest. very busy though. find a time thats safe if you try.
ive also been wanting to try the greenways.

sry for the double post but the switch and evo are currently 40$ off at wallerbears. one of the switches has a pretty good setup for 199$. white hawgs and bears with new pumpkin bushings. feels great and my shoes size is 11 1/2. height 5'11 id hit that thing up.
