FLORIDA DH RACE Brooksville,Fl

FLORIDA DH RACE We are plan'n a DH Race in Brooksville Florida.At this moment we are still get'n things situated with the city.BUT We are plan'n on run'n it either way.

Their are several sponsors lined up and hopefully we can get this thing legit and as a yearly event.As far as the date it is still in the works,we are shoot'n for early Spring.The place of the Race dates back to the days of the Seminoles and it's time for the "Savages" to"Raid the Hill"once again!The Course is a Nice run that has a somewhat tight left at the top,sweeps back'n'forth.gets to 40+mph w/a 90degree right hander,just a lil'before the Finish Line[apx1.5 m.l.]We will keep this thread updated It should be a Great Day,Helmet and Slidegloves required,and their will also be a tech inspection,to insure everyone is safe and on a Safe board.

Hey Papa......can a few streetluges show up too? We used to ride there a couple years ago and know the hill. We don't have to compete of course, just ride for fun.

how was your meeting Gaines? Are we going to be able to close the road? I haven't been able to skate a closed road for almost 2 years. and have you thought about starting the race at the other top because that would add a nasty little corner. it would slow down the top speed a little bit though. if they have said yes we need to line up a day where they will open that gate for us and let us test a little bit. and compare the two potential runs.

John it will good to see you guys out there. I don't think I have seen you since Munnesville.

Just a litle warning about the "other start" up that little drive. Last time we did that, (from 3/4 up) to the top Paolo went into the fence and i clipped the large palm off to the right, it's steeper and faster than it looks. Of course we were on the luges so you guys may fare better! Yea it would be good to see you guys again Taylor, we just havent found enough time lately to ride. Check out the Memorial Day fun run in Talimena, best damn location I have ridden ever and the local law enforcement is behind it! We had a blast last year!

i have ridden in once before from about 3/4. it would probably cause a bunch of crashes but hey it would weed out the less experienced riders. the big problem i see is that its narrow. racing four at a time would be a little tight. would make for some exciting racing in that corner though. Wes actually road it with the gate shut and ducked under. we were all waiting for a nasty clothes line. thankfully he made it.

i will look into talimena is it on street-luge or somewhere else?

The person I met with the other day said she didn't see a problem with the permit'n,But....the Hill,is private property.That be'n said,I'll have to get permission from the owners,and the permit will get the road closed for each run.So now I need to smooth things over with the owners,whoever they might be?Don't worry,I'm on it.As far as which run?I'm think'n the run from the Top with a Giant roll-in courtesy of the SPOT,[no-push-start]What do Y'all think'bout that?

I believe owners are U of F or USF and USDA. Research facility there for USDA and convention/meeting center for the university. This was going back a while though.

the road below the gate is a private drive and is owned by the people who live up top. they have been super friendly with us when we have been out there and interested in what we are doing.

the top part is run by USF research but it is still privately owned by locals in the area

USF is the gate on the right.The top/gate,on the sign it states that it is govermentprop.yes their are ppl live'n up there too.The Grumpy ol'guy claims he runs/owns the place?I'll find out the first of the week on my next Sesh
