King St Bomb
I'm going to try and organize a massive 100+ person skate-bomb down King St, Charleston SC in April at some point. This will be for Top 5 placing prizes and/or charity.
If you like this idea say so, if you have friends that would like this tell them!
See yall in April!

ya what's up with the above?
anyways, right now I just want to get hype going and I think making this happen would be amazing. Of course I've got months to plan it out but I was thinking some sort of entry fee, either $5 or $10 and we could get a photographer from a paper there and it'd be epic...that's all....date pending.

I could see the second one being really cool. Also, there will have to be a lot of people, because if King isn't absolutely flooded, the cops will have the energy to do something.
Skateboarding in the street (or on the sidewalk, or on any public property) is illegal in Charleston as per some city ordinance against short boarders. Every cop knows this, and they're allowed to give out tickets and confiscate boards -- they just usually don't because they figure we're not bothering anyone.
But it might piss a few of them off if we take over King, so it would be better to have an absolute ton of longboarders, and that way the cops will have to either let it go or make it a huge deal.
That being said, this event sounds sick, and I'll be happy to help promote it and help out in any other way, too, if you need it. When the time comes, of course.

Re: King St Bomb
Ya I dig that shirt idea too. Ollies and fliptricks are typically the kind of stuff that piss cops off so I wish there was a way we could keep out of that but idk if that's possible. The way we could get cops to look the other way is if we donated some money to some kind of charity...or a cofc longboarding club possibly? These are all just ideas i'm playing around with while in the shower. We need 100+ people at the minimum so the cops can't single us out haha. Thanks for the future help I think it'll be easy for people to catch onto and I think it'll be a cool Charleston tradition if it gets big. Wouldn't it be rad to say you were apart of the first one?
Tshirts will HAVE to be made.

Re: King St Bomb
I asked a cop who kicked us out of a garage what the laws were and he said that skating is legal as long as you are going with traffic and not doing tricks.

If you get with the people who run the garages, and ask, i'm sure you could get headway. even if its just three stories. get it out there that we are not all bad people and destructive ( going off what a cop said to us in raleigh) it would be a good thing
i'll start working on shirts... any back ground pic ideas?

Re: King St Bomb
That would be pretty crazy.
I am not sure how well it would work Charleston is a lot smaller than say NYC (broadway bomb) so cops can quickly respond.
Also unlike NYC they could completely block off a street pretty quickly due to lower traffic.
You should do a HWY 17 underpass to a cannon on the battery, take whatever path. First one to touch the cannon wins.

Re: King St Bomb
If it gets decent size to it, I'd be down to come. I'm like an hour or two away I think. I could probably drag along some friends too. Glad to help if theres anything I can do by the way.
