In all honesty, I don't know why they even sell long boards in Savannah because it's got to be one of the flattest cities out there. Actually, I met the guy who orders them at Half Moon Outifitters, on Broughton St. and the only reason we have them at all is because he likes to ride around.
Please, if there is anyone out in ol' Savvy, there are art students looking to ride, learn and share the longboarding experience.

I got to college at GCSU in milledgeville, so I'm not terribly far from there (I'm guessing you go to SCAD?). We have some hills here but the roads haven't been repaved in decades in some areas so not that great to skate on.
Yeah, I go to SCAD and so do me boarding friends. Our roads are a little shoddy, too and one of ours got a citation for riding in a parking lot near the dorms, so we're really short on ideas.
It also doesn't help that the best riding is at 2am when there aren't cars all over the place.

I just moved down here from Virginia and I am a SCAD student as well. I live in Richmond Hill and it too is flat, except for one spot, but the road has a pretty rough surface and so it is not great for longboarding. I am desperately trying to find a spot.
As far as locations go...I have found a spot off of 16 as you head into Savannah, by the School (phoenix, I think) on the right. There are some hills down there, but the surface is pretty rough. I saw a bunch of guys riding in a newly paved parking lot in Savannah, but that may be where you received the citation. I am up for a hitting a few hills if you guys are.

John
The citation was picked up in a closed multi-level lot near the student center.
We should hook up and check out that spot off of 16. The problem is mostly the traffic but if you've got a relatively safe spot, I'm stoked!
What're you riding?

I ride a carvestik, but am looking to purchase an Original. The stik is awesome, but only works on slopes or hills. I would love to get together and ride. We should plan a meet.

lol I have a surfstick that I'm turning into a slideboard.
A meet would be interesting, assuming we don't all get run over by some drunk redneck.

I hear you, there are plenty of rednecks around here. The surfstik would be interesting to see when you are finished. I hope we can find some more places; I am always on the lookout. We will have a meet soon, should be lots of fun.

A meet would be fun, only problem for me is I don't have a car at the moment(hence the longboard ha), but I could find some way to swing it over there. Should be perfect weather too you know...being up in the 80s in December and what not.
I hear you on the car. email me when you can get together. As I said I am pretty book through the New Year, but after that I think I will be good to go. There is also some hills down by the river, so that may be another possibility. I have not checked it all out, but I have seen a bunch of boarders riding down there. I just cannot remember where exactly, but you may know.
