The title says it. I'm new to the sport and I don't know of anybody up in Athens that longboards so it would be nice to ride with some folks/get some firsthand tips and pointers.

You can also look up Patio Mendino.
He is a regular at the Athens Sk8park.
There are also a couple of us around the milledgeville/savannah area(couple threads down), so not too from athens...and I got down to athens every now and then.
iv seen a few longboarders in athens, other my friends and i. we usually skate around prince ave. and UGA campus. there are about five of us and we could use more riders.

Im gonna be in athens for a month starting tomorrow, anyone want to skate. and/or know of a few Dh parts 40mph+
I'm not so sure about DH runs. There are quite a few big hills in Athens, but they are in the middle of busy areas. There are some fun fast-ish runs on campus and the greenway off of North Ave. is a really chill place to cruise. Basically just a long concrete paved area that goes by the river. Shaded very well too.
We've got plenty of parking garages as well. Unless I'm working or studying I'm always down to ride. Let me know.
i know of one good hill that could be good for DH. its located at Whitetail Way
Bogart, GA 30622, near the mall. i use it to slide and carve, but who knows.

That's TRADE STREET. 66 has been putting on slalom races there for five years!
He hit 41 mph one Saturday with a tow in.
I've been going over there to run cones since 2003.
I can't remember if Whitetail Way is the street with the UPS depot or the othe end. As soon as you turn the corner, though, it's Trade Street that runs parallel to US 78 between the two roads at each end.

WOW! dang, me my pal stumbled upon that hill randomly one day and called it our secret spot. i never would have guessed that there have been contests held there. they should have another contest soon!
does anyone know of any good drain ditch to skate. maybe by one of the water treatment plants or something. i found a small decent one at the end of the big hill on timothy rd. and it got me wondering if there are any big ones around.
Anybody down for starting a Sunday parking garage/campus skate? I know all the garages aren't staffed of Sunday so as long a cop doesn't roll through by chance we could skate each one as long as we wanted. We had a small group of folks getting together on Sundays last semester and it was a definite good time. I think it would be fun to get something rolling again.
that sounds awesome! try to have everyone meet together every sunday like a club. set it up and ill spread the word. ill be out of town this sunday but i know a lot of people that would go.
