I'm reposting this as the original thread got wiped due to the Big Crash.
There will be a one day free ride jam on North Carolina's soon-to-be-famous Highway 181 on Saturday January 12th near Linville Gorge. This hill is a great, all around venue for all skill levels. With runs as long as 3.7 miles, steep, fast sections, tight chicanes and butter smooth sweepers, you are guaranteed to leave with a huge #### eating grin. The traffic is low and there are no side roads for cars to pull out of. This hill was the highlight of the 2007 Blue Ridge Free Ride back in April. So, if you live nearby, this is a great opportunity to meet and skate with other DH'ers and help build the longboarding scene in NC.
Please post here if this sounds good to you and tell your friends about it. I would love to have as many riders as possible and make this a regular get together. Also, in case of bad weather, the alternate date would be the following Saturday, January 19th.
Here's a video made last April to give you an idea of what the hill looks like:
sounds perfect. i'll definitely be there. i'll research the availability of my cousin's cabin if anyone from out of town wants to drive to NC and crash in the mountains for a few days and scout out spots or ride the blue ridge parkway or big hill rd, etc...

If you pay for a plane ticket from cali I am there!
You are more than welcome. Like I said, the main purpose of this is to get skaters together to help build the DH scene in NC. You guys are definitely who I want to attend. This way we all get to meet and then plan more sessions for the future.
And Mason, I hope that you do find a ride. The hill is worth the trip! And Ned mentioned the possibility of having the cabin to stay in and it's right there at the hill...and the Parkway.
If not this coming weekend, what are the best times to get down there with low traffic?
Thanks
