Anyone ever skated Big Creek Greenway in Alpharetta? All you ATL longboard guys sound off, I would love to get together a big push out there sometime soon.
Marta train to Northridge, Bus to the Park and Ride at Northpoint Mall. 45 minute to 1 hr ride to get there total. That would put you at the bottom of the trail. I am not sure if Marta goes to Webb Bridge, which would put you at the top of the trail. The other places in ATL would be the Piedmont park Ditch if you have something with a kick tail. Or just cruising the sidewalks in Midtown. Most of the time I stay on the multi-use trails in the Gwinnett parks. They are 1 car wide and nicely paved. Marta makes it up here all the time. Try out Shorty Howell Park, and Sweetwater Park. SH has lots of different trails and a track around the football field you can pump on. You can mix it up and take many different routes. SW is a pocket park and has a downhill that sweeps around the back of a building and then turns and sweeps the back of the park. Nice for a couple of hours worth of fun. Pickneyville has a small crappy shortboard area, but tones of wooded trails and lots of DH and technical. All well paved and empty during the week. No skateboarding rules other than be respectful and don't tear chit up for Gwinnett parks. If you ever want to come up and skate, let me know. It is a nice area and most of the stuff is 5 minutes drive from each other. I am a pretty mellow old guy longboarder, nothing fancy. Just exercising and losing weight on my mind as well as relaxing and carving/cruising. Full pads for me, not some crazy DH'er either. I like gentle slopes that run a loooong way.
thanks alot. last semester i didnt go off campus to skate too much but i definately want to check out other places. ill have to check out those next weekend or something.
The P'ville trails are some of the most fun around. you can take them carefully and just cruise or full on bombing. As soon as i build a new Downhill board we'll be back out there.
I tried to make it to the greenway today, but we went hiking instead. Looks like a nice wide smooth path to pump like crazy on. That bank with the cutout looks ####### awesome too, wonder how they would take to hitting that.
Try the garages around perimeter mall. There's gotta be a good one somewhere around. Maybe one of the marta stations. The one at the mall, or by the movie theatre/REI

Thanks Laudie. I've been to king and queen once, and it's good there, just a little outta the way. I live a lot closer to the garage at MARTA by REI and the movie theater. Thanks.
If you're feeling ballsy, try bombing ashford dunwoody just south of 285 on your way to Marist HS. Between the 4th and 5th light
haha no way would I do ashford dunwoody. tell me i don't have balls, but that road is way too freakin busy for me to try. there are some good streets in the murphy candler area right off ashford dunwoody though. laudie, i take it you live around there?

If any of you wanna do some speedboarding in north Georgia let me know. I'm sure there are some really sweet runs in the mountains east of I-75 north of Atlanta. I'm just across the border into TN. I was riding Lookout Mtn in Georgia this weekend.
Murphy candler sounds good too. I don't live too close to there, but went to marist. Don't jump to conclusions!!! I'm not rich by any means, and i'm not a snot nosed prick like everyone else that goes through there. I just went there because I lived in the roswell hs district, and i would rather slit me wrists than go to that school.
Hey I went to North Springs back in the Stone Ages (Grad. 91). We played Marist in football all the time. Good school. But you are right, a lot of them are pricks. Anytime you want to make it out to Gwinnett, look me up. I was out at lunch today at Shorty Howell. Practicing my hard carving and drifting. Not very good just yet, but my slide gloves are showing some wear. That was of course after I finish my 2 miles worth of pumping on the track.
