Re: Atlanta Longboarder Registry
Yo,
My name is Eric and I live in Marietta right now and attend SPSU. I will be transfering to Kennessaw State and I know that campus is a good place to ride and I never thought of GT b/c I thought the campus police would ride our ass but i was wondering if someone could name off a few others and give some relative addresses. I'm not talking mapquest directions here but something that I can look up online to get to. Just some spots in north ATL or even a place in the mountains.
I just got into riding about a month ago and love the #### out of it. I would love to get into some events or gatherings but I haven't been able to find any. KSU has a longboarding club that I will join and try to do some stuff with, maybe even have an annual race meet. With school funding we can do a lot.
I'm all for a meeting some random weekend this summer if you guys are still talking about stuff like that. If we can find an exsisting compition/longboard event we could just tag on.

GT isn't that bad, I never have trouble with the cops except for a couple times at one particular garage. The only problem with it is the traffic, so you have to go out late. I wish I knew some spots, but I don't have a car, so I can't go out looking for them. I've skated in buckhead before, which has some pretty decent hills, and I've been in the vinings area, which looked nice, but I didn't have my board. I don't think there are any races around here (besides slalom) but Im not sure. You might want to check out the woody's halfpipe meets at grant park on fridays though. Oh, and people have discussed some spots in this thread before, so look through it to find some.

I would love to go out for a day trip if anyone else is game...
Anyone want to get a big group together like a Loaded event? I could probably get Stoked to sponsor it with some giveaways if we are serious.

Re: Atlanta Longboarder Registry
Hey, I usually post in the S. FL. thread but I get to come home to ATL for a week or two, leaving tonight. Where do most of y'all longboard around there? I usually skate bowls and pools but used to hit the parking garages and intracoastal bridges a lot. I know to hit Brook Run, SPOA, and Mtn. Park for vert and tranny but I would like to skate some hills or garages when I'm back there. I'm just bringing my pool board but I think my brother has a slide and downhill setup I could borrow. I'd be cool to get to skate with some people while I'm back. I graduated from UGA and have been in Flatttttrida for 5 years--miss some GA hills, also can't wait to get some sweet tea, chick-fil-a, and waffle house!! Not much of that down here.
I think I'm going to go to Brook Run tomorrow morning, if any one wants to skate. Ready to skate some flow bowl!

Re: Atlanta Longboarder Registry
Good to meet you as well. Stoked that loosening up that front truck helped you progress a little. And good that you are on SFL as well. Lots o' good stuff here among the rifraf. Wanted to skate today, but the rain hit. Maybe tomorrow afternoon.
I really want to hit Big Creek Trail in Alpharetta tomorrow.

Re: Atlanta Longboarder Registry
The misses and I are doing Big Creek. Probably some times next week if she gets her confidence up. Took her for fer first real skate" session" instead of a lesson...in the rain no less. At the biggest smoothest parking lot i've ever seen.
She had a ####### blast. So for the moment she's bugging me to go skate, hah.
I'll give a heads up before we go.

Re: Atlanta Longboarder Registry
I cruised around a bit yesterday with my son. We did some homework and looked for other places to slalom or cruise around Gwinnett Place Mall. There is a huge area of brand new blacktop behind the closed cinemas next to Fry's. Might need to be swept a bit, but it's fresh and has a slight incline to it. Great view overlooking the new off ramp to Pleasant Hill.
Heading with the boys to Mountain Park this morning. Then we have a bellydance show this evening. Hope you get some good stoke on Big Creek. Take pictures and post!

Awesome. I am trying to find the right time to teach my wife. She is ready and expressed interest, but we need some uninterrupted time (kids).

I never carry a camera with me because all I have is a good camera, not a little point and shoot. I would hate to risk a fall, that would suck. But, I do have a link for you.
BigCreek
Lots of pics taken by a local roller.

Re: Atlanta Longboarder Registry
Elizabeth - You need to check out Peachtree Ridge Park today. You won't be disappointed. All fresh paved and just opened. Killer trails, a track, massive flat, semi sloped parking lots. It will be your new home.
Shoot me some email if you plan to go. I might bring the wife and kids to play at the playground.

Look it up on Gwinnett Parks Website.

Re: Atlanta Longboarder Registry
Thanks for all the help! Y'all just had two people post in here about coming to town to try and meet up for sessions and not one reply or any help at all. I wanted to hit some downhill sessions but I guess I'll stay in the bowls.
