Re: Atlanta Longboarder Registry
Hey, I replied. And the Woody's meet info was in here. Actually I called out for someone to skate with the day you posted that.
You would have loved the Woody's thing. Great DH run at Grant Park. Just too far of a drive.
Always happy to sesh with someone new.

Re: Atlanta Longboarder Registry
I'm sorry that came out sounding like I was pissed. I'm not, it's just our south florida region always helps out people that post and want to meet up for sessions, we welcome everyone and want our numbers to grow. I guess geographical regions are just different. No worries, hope y'all have a good time skating wherever the sessions take place.

Re: Atlanta Longboarder Registry
Hey,
I appreciate it Camel! I had no idea the Woodys session info was on here--guess I should have checked the earlier pages of this thread. My bad, and thanks again. I will try to make the Grant Park session on Fri. That sounds pretty fun!

No problem man. What area are you staying in while you are here?

Re: Atlanta Longboarder Registry
I'm in Gwinnett. Staying in Grayson near Brookwood High School. I've skated some of the hills in my neighborhood, but I just don't know where any of the good hills or parking garages are around here. How far away is Grant Park from Gwinnett?
-
Re: Atlanta Longboarder Registry
You aren't that far from me. you could skate to Grant Park, but it might take 2 days. It's downtown. Google map the Atlanta Zoo. Some places you might like to try out are all the Gwinnett Parks. The trails are rockin'.
Gwinnett County Parks by Location
My regulars are: Shorty Howell and Peachtree Ridge.
If you are into pumping, Big Creek Trail in Alpharetta is loads of fun.
City of Alpharetta Website || The Big Creek Greenway
Shorty has big sweeping downhill parking lots good for a slide or two at speed. A track to pump, trails to technical dh on the backside in the woods.
PR has the track and some awesome sweepers and hairpins on the trails. All brand new asphalt. Lots of dh trails as well. Big parking lots but no real dh lots to slide.
Hope that helps. Let me know if you want to meet up sometime. We can get a crew together for a meet.

Re: Atlanta Longboarder Registry
Which of those two parks have better Downhill?
-
Re: Atlanta Longboarder Registry
PR has better of the 2. But you need to try Bogan Park. They have a really long dh trail run. Bring a gas blower though to clean the trail. Or a push broom. You should walk it once first for debris. Same for all wooded trails. If I was into dh, that is where I would go first. Look to the left of the drive in for the trail.

Re: Atlanta Longboarder Registry
Look at the trail running parallel to the main drag. All dh.
Just don't be an idiot and get longboards banned from county parks like they are in Forsyth.

Re: Atlanta Longboarder Registry
Thanks. I'll check them out eventually. That picture looks awesome.
Since when are Longboards banned in Forsyth? Are you insinuating this is because of us? I'm still carving, and bombing my local park nearly daily. (in the heart of forsyth). It seemed to be just the one jackass desk jockey that was misunderstood about what we were going. it's all worked out now.
We/I are very respectful of our spots. Waiting 15-20mins at the top of a trail for it to clear 100% is not uncommon.

Skateboards are not allowed specifically by county parks rules (Forsyth). IIRC, you have built respect over time through your good actions and they don't bother you.
I know you hit Central, we have talked about that.
But you know as well as I do, one moron would get it taken away for all of us. Not that I think it would be you. I just put the caveat out there because other people are reading this and getting this info. (Lurkers - They are watching us....get out the tinfoil, lets make a hat...)
No slam sent your way.

(Believe me, I have read the rules for almost all the local counties. And I have talke to Parks and Recreation Directors when I can't find the rules. I am trying to get all the info on the local area. I have people emailing me about local parks now in regards to skating. Funny.)

Re: Atlanta Longboarder Registry
How about this one? That trail is 12 feet wide to give you an idea of scale.

Re: Atlanta Longboarder Registry
Oh I see. My bad. yea central is our daily grind. It's really nothing special but it's 8mins down the street. Kinda funny I didn't actually know about that law. We do shortboard there too, a guy at the rec center even told us to brings ramps and ####,hah. we did bring a 4' 1/4 once but we thought kids might get crazy.
I guess it doesn't matter too much since central is all that is remotely skateable in forsyth anyways.
I'm sure we all appreciate your info digging. I know how much of a bitch it can be finding all that BS out. You can rest easy about Me/themiss's/and my bud i skate with for any of your spots. We may look like hooligans, but it's only skin deep

Re: Atlanta Longboarder Registry
Holy mother, what in the hell is that! Thats a trail? Whats with the lane lines?
Whats the grade like? That looks insane.
-
Re: Atlanta Longboarder Registry
Heavy grade, serious triple switchback. Lots of speed, you would have to layout the corners really fiercely. Not busy at all, hardly any foot traffic. Off buford hwy and suwanee dam. Scary fast.

Re: Atlanta Longboarder Registry
If any of you are in the kennesaw area, there are some nice parking lots off barrett lakes, you gotta go on the weekends or after business hours, but its worth it.
Oh and camel Sorry I had to bail that night at grant park but it was nice to meet you. Hit me up if you are ever near kennesaw..
