Re: Atlanta Longboarder Registry
Awesome. Can you grab a google map shot of the portion that you did? Give some nearby road info?

Anyone want to get a big group together like a Loaded event? I could probably get Stoked to sponsor it with some giveaways if we are serious.

Im new to this site but how can you claim to be down with the local scene when you have an Atlanta based shop like Woodys Halfpipe that hosts events constantly, but suggest having an event and bringing in some out of state mail order place as the sponsor. How does that help promote the local scene?

Anything that gets people out skating supports the local scene. People get out and see new hardware and ways to skate, generates interest in the sport from the non-skating public. There are lots of good things about Woody's Halfpipe said on this site as well. I wouldn't ask Woody's to pony up merchandise. Dude has a store to pay for and already has the local market. I buy stuff from him as well. There are a couple of other shops locally as well, but Woody's definitely has the best longboard stock in town.
Woody's Halfpipe
I did talk to John about getting a big charity push together with Loaded and try to get a couple of big names out there. Not even asking for any give aways, just help with publicity. He wasn't real interested, said he had it covered. So if I give him first dibs, what's the problem with getting whomever I can to sponsor some giveaways?
Not to mention, if you scroll up a bit. Sending folks to the Woody's GP event and making sure the info is out there helps to build the local scene.

Re: Atlanta Longboarder Registry
Man, thanks Camel! That is some great help--I appreciate it. Those trails look nice! Let me know if y'all get together a session. I have to go to the lake for Mothers day and will have to miss the woodys session but hope to make it to one of those soon.

No problem man! Glad to have you in town. What lake are you going to? I live up at Lake Lanier. Be sure to stop by Woody's or Brook Run while you are here. Best places in town. If you wait long enough, Duncan Creek might actually open on the 22nd. But sources say June 14th.
I have the day off from family and household tomorrow. I was thinking about clocking some miles. Anyone want to join in? Either that or doing some of the sweepers at Peachtree Ridge Park. I haven't hit the new areas they just opened last week. Back through the woods by Lake Louella.

Re: Atlanta Longboarder Registry
Does anyone know any good places for crusin during the summer?
one good garage for bombin is the king and queen buildings when no one is there. just in case you were wondering.

Re: Atlanta Longboarder Registry
Cool. Good to know. If you just want to cruise, Big Creek Greenway and Silver Comet Trail are great places if you bring some friends. Peachtree Ridge Park in Gwinnett is looking awesome now that it is complete. Get some friends together and get out there.

Not so much DH, rather than cruising. If you want to meet up with some light DH, head down to Grant Park tomorrow night for the Woody's Halfpipe meet. Those guys are all nice. John, the owner of Woody's, is usually down there in full pads himself. There is one good DH run, lots of parking lot space and typically some slalom cones.
If you want to meet up and do some mild DH hills, Peachtree ridge has some good technical DH trails. And one "balls to the wall" trail that is straight downhill. A broom is a good thing to have for pre-run maintenance just in case. No cars to deal with either.
Good to have you on board.....(hehe)

I don't know many folks that are into sliding exclusively. But I am definitely working on it!

Re: Atlanta Longboarder Registry
Hey guys, I am thinking of doing the Silver Comet this weekend sometime with Tyleroo. Anyone else want to come out and do some trail riding?

Re: Atlanta Longboarder Registry
We rode the Silver Comet from the Comet Connector at Highland Station to Anderson road. Total of 18 miles there and back. We could have gone farther but were worried about getting back to civilization way too late in the day. The trail was great, sections with a 2% downhill grade that ran for a couple of miles. A good portion of the time was spent just cruising along at about 12mph with a few pumps here and there to pass slower cyclistas and pedestrians on foot. Didn't see any other folks on deck, but it is a great place for a ride. No one gave us any bad looks until Tyleroo almost squashed a "mini" dog. I was lagging behind a little when he did that, so no pics. I will try to get him to post some pics of the ride.
Great place, consider it scoped for ATL LDP. Definitely a great place and a fun afternoon waiting to happen.
