so i've desperately been wanting to enter a dh competition, but the problem is that i live in arkansas and cant really afford to fly all over the continent to enter races. are there any races in this region that i could possibly drive to??
you ever skate the mountain tower rd. in hot springs? i've driven it, but i was wondering if it was too flat in sections.

edit: the downhill side
i've thought about it, but after all the crap w/ skaters downtown i'm skeptical to do anything around there. i still might do it tho. west mountain looks pretty good too. i'll probably try west first.
i've also considered putting on an event on the mountain tower rd, but i wasn't sure about speeds. plus it's in a national park which could make even more red tape to cross. It's still in the back of my mind. If you ever decide it's something you want to do talk to me, i've helped organize events before.
I'm just not sure an event in arkansas could draw the numbers to break even and the mountain tower rd would require a huge amount of hay. i've videotaped the road and the problem is that it has so many switchbacks on the downhill portion of the road that you wouldn't be able to take the turns all that fast and if i remember correctly after a few of the hairpins it get's pretty level, so i'm not so sure speedboarders would carry enough speed to the next turn. they may be tempted to start kicking again.
West Mountain is bigger, but a lot less turns, plus you have to deal with two way traffic.

Brian, let me know if you need a hand.

west mountain would be scary fast if you start from the top. that coupled w/ the sharp turns and drop offs into woods might be a litttle too dangerous, but we'll see.

are there that many sharp turns? I can only remember one, and that's if you make a U turn at the gate. or am i thinking of the wrong hill?

hmmm, idk. maybe i just thought they were super sharp becuase i was thinking about doing them and there would be cars coming the other way, but it if was closed off it would probably be good.
