Well since summer is here and the temperature has found its footing around that 100 degree spot every day I was just wondering.... how do you guys keep cool? Im down here in Arizona and it gets to triple digits here at about 11 am... and i just cant keep going non-stop anymore...
so... whats your technique for staying outside in the summer without having to run inside for a cool drink?
Stay hydrated
wet your cotton T-Shirt w/ water (have a gallon in your car)
I don't deal with triple digits often, but trek many miles a day in Appalachia and freeze my water bottle so I can't chug it all at once (drink it as it melts)

Cold water does take calories to become usable. But the question wasn't a survival and efficiency one.. it was re: staying cool, and cold water cools the core.. a small bag of Salted peanuts makes up for the lost caloric issue

True. And who cares is you shed a few pounds while you're out skating?
Growing up in FL. I've never really had to deal with triple digits but the humidity makes it feel like it.
The trick is having energy to burn while you're out in the heat. What you eat for the right kind of energy has many variables. Blood type, for example. So I can't say what your body might metabolize best in high heat/activity. For me, mixing between water and Gatorade helps keep me hydrated and energized. More water than gatorade. Something like 2-3 stops drink water, then gatorade the 3-4 time you stop. Then back to water 2-3 more times. If I just drink Gatorade I feel sick.
Having a proper meal the night before is always beneficial.
Beyond the nutrition, all the above suggestions are pretty solid.
Light colors and breathable fabrics.
If I were to chug some frozen/ice cold water after working vigorously for a while; I'd puke my brains out. Go with room temp. The cold water sucks water to your stomach so your body can normalize the water temp. That blood is needed in your extremities for cooling and energy distribution.
I stay inside... I feel bad about not having skated since Buffalo Bill but I really can't stand/handle the heat. I can't wait to move!!! Only one month.

Daggers rule
A bannana with breakfast and a bag o' peanuts and plenty of hydration...Everyone is different.. I've worked in the out doors for 30 years now.. i've experimented several if not all of the aforementioned ways.. drinking too much to soon aint good.. hence why I FREEZE my water bottle or camel bak And drink it as it melts.. nice cool sips.. all day long, make for a comfy skater

I like to bring my camelbak where ever i go. Keeps up to 2 liters of water. but thats not enough for arizona so thats why i got a big bag so i can hold 2 2litres of water. I like to wear short everything. taking breaks alot is important too.

After 3 years of runnin 3 to 12 miles with the sun beatin down on you the whole time and in a hot room with wearing 3 layers of clothes and everybody sweatin makin it even more hotter, both of them without any bit of water, i just learned to deal with the heat.....it actually feels cool skatin outside even when its in the 90's and up

you gotta hit me up before you leave so we can have a sesh with you and our skate team
oh, what i like to do is once im sweaty, i take off my shirt and put it inside, then go inside for about 10 min, the my shirt is all cool from the sweat on it and i go back outside
Long sleeve shirts and long pants, both baggy and light, help a lot. They keep the sun off of you.
yeah....and cause you to encounter a severe heat stroke =p
if I was wearing pants and a long sleeve shirt today along with my full face I don't think I could have skated more than 30 minutes.....shorts + t-shirt ftw with elbows/knees if you need/want em....and then lots and lots of water.....have a jug in your car or a camelbak on your back...shade is your friend
