i've been thinking of hosting a outlaw race/session in santa fe sometime in the next month. it will be a downhill/push race...mostly mellow downhill with some pushing and avoiding cars. i have a few locations in mind that could work..who's interested? i'm thinking sunday afteroon so everybody can come...take the train...buy stuff at timeship and lets all go skate!
i'm thinking for dates the 21st or 28th of this month...those are both sundays...
no entry fee, no prizes, just a good excuse to mix -up the santa fe and ABQ scenes a little bit....that and the glory of winning....

I'd be down. Would we need to drive? or the course gonna be close to the train stop?
...........various other questions that you haven't planned out yet.....?

The rail runner doesn't run on Sunday... But on Saturday it's $6 round trip. And the Santa Fe Depot is like 5 minutes from TSR.
This sounds awesome! Can't wait!
Get us a date, we can make some flyers and pass them out.
Are you sure you don't want everyone to pitch like $5, and hand out the pot to the top three? If you would like we could sponsor, wouldn't have time to build a board, but wemay be able to give a gift card or something.

everyone would be meeting at skate school/timeship racing HQ, which is a 2 second skate away from the downtown rail-station, people are welcome to sleep in the half-pipe if need be. if you guys are into it, we can charge a entry fee, as long as the winner buys beer. i can see about TSR donating a gift cert or something to. since the feedback seems to be pretty positive, let me make up some flyers and i'll post it up here in the next day or 2. i think aiming for the 28th of june would be better to give some more time for word to get out.
looks like you are right, no train service on sun., but there is a 10pm train leaving santa back to ABQ on sat night, which could work as i'm thinking of having the race around 7pm for minimal traffic.
let me talk this over with Joe and see what he thinks, i'll post up a flyer soon.

Any preview of what you're thinking for the course?
how well do you know santa fe? i'm thinking of wilderness gate road up past St. John's College down to Canyon road, on to Paseo De Peralta, then back to skate school....couple of miles in length, all downhill, some is fast, some is alot more mellow.....
or i have another spot in mind, but more gnar with a 1 left 90 hairpin and 1 right hairpin that you slide through, butter pavement, but i'm thinking the other is is better. this would be a good session hill..
also i'm thinking just chinese downhill status...everyone go at once, one run, then we're done. and we can skate more somewhere else.

i've decided to change the course...new course will strait(ish) drafter's special, speeds in the 35-45mph range depending on winds, so better lube your bearings and shave your chest hair. decided to go with this hill because it can be easily and safely raced without being closed to traffic and the hill is not to gnarly so it can accommodate a large skill range.
race format will be 4-man heats like a legit downhill...1st heats will be names drawn from a hat, you race for points....ie 1st place gets 1 point, 4th place gets 4 points...we change heats every round so everyone races everyone, the person with the least amount of points at the end wins.....$5 entry fee, all the money goes for gas for shuttles and prize $$......flyer coming later tonite...
RACE WILL START AT 6:30, MEET AT TIMESHIP RACING AT 6..also, earlier in the day at timeship we will be having our yearly SKATE SWAP....so get to santa fe early if you want to sell your old decks, trucks, wheels or want to buy some cheap used stuff...more info on the skate swap later..
hope to see a large turnout! let your friends know!

if i can get out of work early that day i'd love to go skate some hills before the race. depends...but everyone should get into santa early for the skate swap and possible hill bombin'
ALso.....if you are for sure coming to the race, could you please email me @ sk860mph@gmail.com with your full name so i can start a list of racers.

i usually don't wear my leathers on this hill...but if your suit fits well, they are faster....i think i'm gonna skin-suit it. keep in mind the hill is about 40, strait-shot, its all gonna be about aerodynamics and draft tactics.

My leathers don't fit that great, but leather is still more aero than cotton... And 40 is a speed I don't want to fall at...
Time to work on my draft tactics! Or learn a really good non-draftable brazilian tuck...
