In the summer, do 97a wheels soften to 78a on the searing pavement? Ever get stuck, like chewing gum on a shoe, by rolling over a manhole cover when it's 112 outside?

(I used to swap my Krypto reds off my board on really hot days in Los Angeles, because they'd shred up on super hot streets.)

you know ebasil, i wouldn't doubt that it could happen.
personally, in the summer, i try to skate at night ( put the family to bed
and hit it ) or early in the morning.
the heat is coming soon. july through sept are rough.

    Default My ditch

here's what I skated this morning for National Ride Your Skateboard Day:

until i see someone else there, or have someone to ride with - i'll just
    call this "my ditch".

i found an even better one too.

    "your ditch" is sweet!

Thanks Frank - email me if you're ever out here. I have boards you can use.

Hey Kai buddy, you are right. I figured I'd post a few pics of spots. Maybe
some Vegas travellers will see them and look me up when they come
    here.

Here's a real beauty! I took this pic from the bottom looking up. It goes uphill for about a mile. Very clean, smooth and fast.
No houses around and accessed by a dirt road - nice and private, for now
    anyways.

    Nice huh?

Very nice! I think I'd like the part that goes downhill for a mile, better, though Keep that location closely held and you may just have yourself a great candidate for an Outlaw Event...

Thanks I'll keep that in mind. I think I have a board to ride but I'll need to borrow some of those plastic coins

    here's a story for ya:
last year i was skating a ditch in vegas and ate poop.
my camera was in my pocket and punched a whole in
my chest - two broken ribs and a bruised lung.
all pics are taken looking up the ditch ebasil
and the camera stays at the bottom - when by myself.

i know, i know... not too bright. hahahahahaha!!!

ask kai - at the cliff coleman slide clinic, i ran over
one of my boards. an explorer over a red cross olson.
the board held up, my head held low.

Mark, I explain this to my mountainbiking buddies all the time: if you don't want to get hurt, stop freakin' crashing!!

    Broken ribs, bruised lung?

That culvert looks so clean. Is that because the big winter you had scoured all the debris out? Can you get Malakai a discount at the Venetian?

hahaha - thanks. I'll try and remember that.
At 40, it took me about 10 weeks to get back to normal.
Then my old ass was afraid to skate it again by myself.
I'd drive by it and look at it.
    Now I'm back to normal.

Yes, very clean due to all the rain we had months ago.
I had to clean out some tumbleweeds and a few rocks.
Also, Mark Johnson from San Francisco was here with
some friends the weekend before I took that pic - I'm sure
    he did some cleaning.

Hey man I live in vegas. Sunrise Manor area. I'm only fourteen though. If you know what I'm talking about I live not too far from the top of Owens(The big hill) My friends and older brothers try and bomb most of the hills around there. I'm into ditch skating but all the good ones are across town. I'll e-mail you.

I don't know where any great ditches are Mark J would know that but my friends and I are thinking about going out to Boulder City and skating some ditches out there because some of them go all the way out to the lake. fun.
