Was also 40 min late for work this morning. I'm gunna be staying here late to make up time so If i do come out skating tonight (which I might not) It's only gunna be for a little bit.

So I didn't get to go because I was stuck doing some stupid school project with my group until 11.

One other thing, were you guys there when the fire alarm went off? I went up on top of A mountain to smoke and when I passed by the garage the fire alarm siren and the strobe lights on every floor were going off. There was two cops and a firetruck too.

nah I left around like 12 but i think some of the other guys were there til later?

ahh that dam fire alarm

not sure who it was there was a lot of kids skatin there doin some stupid #### so im guessing it was one of them.....i would watch yourself at rio for a while security picks up during the holidays and i dont think they will be to nice after that

yeah so I just got back from riding there with two other guys and I was surprised to see security in golf carts on the first floor.

I guess apparently there was some shortboarders last night who messed with the fire extinguishers and fire alarms which is probably why they're kicking out anyone who comes in. And the cops were also called on us by security in there but we managed to get out.

So keep the Rio Salado garage on the DL for a bit. Thanks shortboarders!

####. I mean seriously... ####. That was the only (and best) garage on the ASU tempe campus area where cops or uppity security guards were non-existent. Now some ####ing shortboarders screwed it up for all of us, I've seen them awhile back doing flatland tricks and ####ing with the extinguishers on the first floor in plain sight. I mean really, why can't you go somewhere besides the chill longboarding parking garage for flatland... learn your stupid kickflips and shove-its elsewhere. Pull the alarm in the Fulton Center garage or the garage behind my dorm (Palo Verde Main)... the cops already sit at the top of those two garages regularly patrolling for "unruly and destructive skateboarders".

I guess the people that are safe and non-abusive to the facilities are ####ed for the time being...

Just goes to show how one person or a small group of people can #### things up for everyone... I just don't understand it man... why can't everyone just have some god damned sense for once and respect what isn't theirs...

I'll honestly be one of the guys to go ahead and advise that people either avoid the garage at Rio and Mill altogether or scout it out before you skate there, make sure there's no golf cart security or full blown police cars sitting there. I'm usually the last person to sketch out about skating a spot but I LOVE this garage. I would hate to see it overrun with police and security that looks down upon skateboarding at pretty much all hours. Longboarding included...

Ugh...

Yup, we have 50+ longboarders there, no problem. A few shortboards and they fuk everything up. You know that killed it for us. If I see those guys I'm gonna flip!

What if we went to the security guard (one or a few of us, not a mob) and explained our situation to him/them. Tell them that there has been a good number of people coming here for some time, and that we really appreciate the spot and we would never to something that stupid as to lose it or get kicked out permanently. (I know this next part may sound stupid or cheesy) but set a "safe word" or something to that effect with security, and only pass it on in person at the garage so "lurkers" cant get a hold of it. If security rolls up on you and you know the password or phrase, they'll know its the people (or people from the group) who came to them to ask for permission.

Just a thought.....lets put a civil fight with the authorities not to lose this place.

That is a good idea mike and I actually thought about that before this incident... plus i know what the one kid goes by (name wise)... super negro? hahaha.

Anyways my thoughts were if we ever got pinched there to tell the cops we skate it respectfully all the time and ALWAYS see dumb people hanging around doing drugs. If they give us a pass, we'd call one of the officers up when we see something. They get $ for the ticket or arrest and we get to skate =). We are their security then essentially.

I'm down to go there tonight and try to talk to someone. Or go down to the police station. Anybody wanna join?

I would give it a shot. I love that garage and have skated there since I started. I don't wanna loose it to supid punks.I just got my shlong board done! And I got some video left to work on. I may make it out there.

I can't tonight, I'm taking my desktop back to my house in Gilbert to try and fix the damn thing.

When you go and talk to security or the police send like the 3 or 4 oldest guys as ambassadors, they'll take you more seriously because in most people's minds skateboarders = bad kids.

If you do the password/phrase thing make sure NOBODY posts it on here. If you tell someone make sure you use PM/phone/in person etc. and make sure they know not to post it in publicly viewable places, or else it's pointless.

I super stoked to see everybody put their heads together and come up with some ideas instead of just laying low for a while. I think if we approach security they will realize we are more mature than the asses that pulled the alarm.

Good Times. Being chased by security guards on Golf carts with flashing yellow lites.They couldn't keep up as they followed us to the basement. It got real pretty quick when I heard someone shout police and we scattered like roaches. My car was on the roof and the elevator was there on 3. I just hopped on pushed 8 and hoped the man wouldn't be waiting.

Rio has been patrolled by security since its been built and its only been the last few months that security is gone.I'd be lucky to get 2 runs in before getting asked to leave. The real issue is " Insurance Rates" because its a private deal, the owners don't want the risk.Hopefully, I'm wrong.
