I think crashing would be impossible. specially with your tuck. Sliding is just a controled crash any way! I know I have gone FAST on my little board and sent pendys! I don't know how fast though....maybe like a million miles an hour, that was from the chase cars speedo though.

Hey fella's. Sorry for my absence here on the fish. Whoever hasnt heard yet, Last sunday I broke my ankle in 3 spots sliding a garage in phoenix. Total bummer.

So here's what happened, The garage was a circular down ramp the entire way. 1 floor = 1/2 circle so this mug was pretty steep. It just so happens that way It circled around was my toeside side, So i busted out 2 smooth toeside pendy's.

Then I went for a heelside one footed tail grind and thats where I made a mistake. I dunno if the trick way beyond my reach but I dont think so considering I have done it before.

I think where I ran into trouble was the fact that I went for a heelside slide on a toeside turn. All my momentum after going down 4 stories was to my toeside so trying to kick the board out heelside becomes very difficult as your opposing the laws of physics.

Anyway, the board popped up on my back foot and then released from under me. My foot then caught the pavement and I continued to roll over it sending my foot backwards and sideways.

I landed on my stomach and looked back only to see the bottom side on my foot and my bone sticking through right where the ball joint on your ankle is and tons of blood pouring from it.

Knowing I couldnt stay like that I rolled over to my butt and swung my leg around. The momentum from the movement and a little helping hand from my leg muscles sent my foot swinging like a door on hinges and set the bone inside my foot.

Thankfully I was with blstndwn and Evocitycruiser so I had friends there to help me through this extremely painful injury. Without them I dont know what I would have done.

I want to sincerely thank those guys as they called the ambulance for me, Met the EMT's to bring them with me and control traffic so I didnt get hit by a car coming down the ramp. They also came to see me in the hospital and made sure my car was taken care of that night. Seriously thank you guys!

This is why you shouldnt skate alone when possible! I've been skating 5 yrs. now and sliding for 3. Goes to show this can happen to anyone no matter your skill level!

So now that I have bored you with my story, on to the pictures!

Here is the first X-ray from the front of my foot

Here is the X-ray from the side which you can clearly see all 3 breaks

This pic is right after surgery. on this side of my foot I had 2 screws to hold the bone together. The Doc left the stitches open so that any kind of infection could seep out. This is the left side of my right foot where the bone popped out. On the x-ray's you can see the sharp bone that came out.

Here is the right side of my right foot where breaks 2 & 3 are. This required a plate and 6 screws to fix and this was also right after surgery.

This pic is 2 days after surgery. The doc closed up the stitches at 5 in the morning with no pain med's in my system... seriously WTF doc? That was one of the most painful parts of the whole process. Again, left side of the right foot.

Now here is the pic of the collateral damage on my board. All bloodied up and looking like a true warrior! I am NOT cleaning off the blood. It's a badge of honor

And here is my new foot. Of course I gotta rep EW.


This injury does not discourage me from riding and shouldnt discourage anyone from doing so either. What we do is risky and we take chances everytime we get on a board. This just so happens to be the repercussions from a wronged attempt at a trick.

Ride on soldiers! take your bumps and bruises, heal up and ride some more. Never let what you love slip away because of fear that it will hurt you. You never know when your last day is among you so enjoy life until that day comes!

Kinda scary when your stuck halfway down a spiral garage! At least you got to bomb the rest of it! To bad it was on a stretcher! So if any one ever wants to party, JERZEYS HOME!
