I'm down to help plan it. Someone PM me and we can get this going. Despite the outlaw appeal, i could work on getting some roads shut down for awhile.
Re: someone in ABQ should organize a winter outlaw
ughhh, i suppose i could arrange something, i'm not skating because of my shoulder, and don't know if i could bear being on a hill and not skating, but I'll talk with Angelus about hills, i have a couple in mind, call me if you have suggestions.
Re: someone in ABQ should organize a winter outlaw
I was thinking of running an outlaw at Simms. It would be a Staggered Chinese DH race.
We set up at the top with all riders in rows or four. Depending on how many riders we have we may have three rows of four, or ten rows of four. Then everyone goes down at once, each row starting at the same time at their respective starting line. At the bottom you are awarded points depending on your overall place. Then we immediately shuttle everyone to the top. Then the rows are circulated, first row of riders goes to the back and everyone other row moves forward. Wash rinse repeat. We could do it till the rows have been circulated all the way around, till we get kicked out, or till the sun goes down.
I don't know if it is going to happen, but could be fun. I would need some help setting it up. And tons of shuttle drivers.
If someone were to plan a ditch race, Dave, do you think we could borrow TSR's timing system?
Re: someone in ABQ should organize a winter outlaw
that race format sounds fun...DO IT! post a date and i'll drag a crew from santa to come and smoke u guys!!
as for the timing system, thats why i thinking a DH race would be easier, because joe's very protective of his timing system. if i were u i would shoot him a email telling him about a outlaw ditch race u wanna organize and see what he says.

Sounds chaotic as hell, I emailed someone from cabq to see if they'd block off a road for awhile, I know they do it for yuppie events in the heights all the time

It's probably going to cost a lot on money. And they probably won't just close the road. They'll make you get police to watch the road (you have to pay for them) and an ambulance or two (you have to pay for them too).
But maybe I'm wrong. Let me know what they say, because if it's not expensive it would be a great idea.

Yeah. I say we just do the DH at Simm's then.

I will then! When does school start again in January? I think I'll try and do it just before then.
Re: someone in ABQ should organize a winter outlaw
getting a road closed in almost every case, involves getting insurance to cover the event, police to watch the event, traffic/pedestrian control and EMT services. otherwise the city that is giving permission to close the road is held liable...at least thats my understanding of it. if u can get the road closed without any of that, sweet!

You're probably right, but I've got some feedback from abq recreation and they're open to the idea. I'll let you all know how it works out.
