    Default Board Build

Me and my buddy Leon. Are building a long board, with a drop down deck. Probably going to use rolls rolls 145mm or 97mm wheels. Here are the dementions.

    LONG BOARD DEMENTIONS
    Truck hight (Randall II 180mm) = 60.45mm
    Wheel diameter = 97.00mm
    Wheel radius = 42.50mm
Ground to truck base plate = 108.95mm
    Drop hight = 84.00mm
    Drop slope lenght (@45deg.) = 120.00mm
    Platform length =1000.00mm
    Perch length = 200.00mm
    Total board length =1568.00mm
    Total wood length =1640.00mm

Perch is the area the trucks set on. Wood length is un-bent. Drop is angled down area inside of the perch down to platform= where you ride. Distance off the ground from platform is about 1.8in. We will post pics when we build it.

Anyone think this is a good idea? Any comments/questions?
    Anyone want one?

uh..., idk. too many numbers for my burnt out brain right now. i may want one, got a price range? show me some pics and such and i'll prolly give a you a more concrete decision. looks solid though.

-KS m1 46", R2 180s flipped pin swapped, abec 70mm flashbacks, mad max abec 5s, hopin to get some abec bushings soon. (i <3 this board)
-S9 off the wall, deck only as of now. hoping for indy 169s, zig zags, and reds soon.
-Evo deck, somewhere in the mail
    -dervish - sold
-tactis white terror - blue crails - white jimz bushings - 78mm blast waves - bones swiss

Baisicaly it is long as hell (about 5 feet) dropped to the floor, both factors for stability, and to make easy to kick (only have to step down less than an inch. 97mm wheels for very low friction (for speed). RII's for a little added turning (that combined with board lenght make it turn a little) The board will be thick, planning on using 13 layers of vaneer from roarockit, and then fiber glassing the whole board.

    I'll keep you updated.

hmmm, please do... sounds kinda cool. will be heavy as hell..., but hey, always looking for some quiver expansion, the amount of plies plus that length may make it TOO heavy..., but for some mild hills the extra plies and that fiberglass is gonna make it pretty stiff for its length, which could be a pretty fun ride.

Changed the design a little. I am going to make it about a foot shorter, with smaller wheels (maybe 70mm) and less or a drop (to fit the wheels).
That long of a board with that much drop would make it slide way to much, not so good for speed. The smalled wheels will make it not break axles when it does slide. Also It will be lighter, probably only do 7 or 9 layers of veneer, and only fiber glass it if I do 7 layers.

alright. w/ that amount of veneer it should have some degree of flex..., the smaller wheels are going to give it less rollout and overall wear too... why not put an extra few bucks in the trucks and grab the 10mm bears and then you can easily accomodate 77mm strikers w/o worrying about the axle?

That sounds good, I'm not too familiar with bear trucks. I am with randals. Randal makes the 210mm wide with a 10mm free float axle. that would be nice.

    But hell- anything is possible.

Changed the measurments up a bit.
And converted it to inches for better mental pictures for all of us americans.

    ---NEW---

    Truck hight (Randall II 180mm) = 60.45mm = 2.38in

    Wheel diameter = 77.00mm = 3.03in

    Wheel radius = 38.50mm = 1.51in

    Ground to truck base plate = 98.95mm = 3.89in

    Drop height = 73.50mm = 2.89in

    Ground clearance = 25.40mm = 1.00in

    Drop slope lenght (@45deg.) = 103.94mm = 4.09in

    Platform length = 735.00mm =28.94in

    Perch length = 200.00mm = 7.87in

    Total board length =1238.94mm =48.77in

    Total wood length =1282.00mm =50.47in

    Cool Re: Board Build

make it just a little higher, right now if you wanted to go cruising, you would bottom out on speed bumps or other elevated things. sounds cool though.

i would imagine if it were only an inch that could be problematic. the ground clearance that is. i just thought if i were to lower my KS a bit more, then loosen the trucks, grabbed the board in a hard carve i could probably scrape the side of the board into the ground. ouch. my KS is in pieces right now as i'm refinishing it, but that thing is already pretty low. shoot for a drop similar to that. its just bout perfect, maybe a lil lower. got a sketch of the concept? i'd like to see it.

I have a sketch, but it's at home and I'm at work. I'll try and post tonight. I edited the designs again, (they are at home too) it now has 2in or groung clearance, plus whatever spacers I put on.

you would probably get more input if this was in the board building section?

So why post it here too. It is just annoying, this section is supposed to be about places to skate, not to build some hypothetical board. Of course then I keep opening the thread to see if there is a picture of some mystical board, alas, there is not, just someone with this idea, about some board that will probably not get built. Jeez it already has a foot chopped off of it.

I thought the same thing about this being in the wrong area, but I think the moderator(s) will move it if they want, or you can ask them. Good luck with the board anyway. I wasn't all that stoked on "lowered" boards. Too hard to turn, IMO. I'm biased since most of the riding I do is in ditches, which requires alot of turning.

    Cool Re: Board Build

ya, but keep in mind that dropped boards are great for downhilling.
