    Default San Marcos, Tx

So it's been about 6 months since I lost a wheel on my skateboard and ended up in the hospital (so gay.) and now that I've finally come across some cash for a new set of wheels/bearings all my skating buddies have bailed. I know it's summer and most of you kids have gone back home... but those of you who are here, let me know!

I don't really mind skating by myself, but after a while it gets pretty boring.

Right on, well I'm pretty much skating everyday here in San Marcos -- I like downhill, carving, and I'm trying to learn to slide. I'm usually at the top of comanche. I'd like to come to austin, but gas sucks and so does work.

i go to school there. the commanche hill is sick, but there are two neighborhoods i like better than campus.

both are off RR12. the first, turn left on franklin past the valero & jive turkey (RIP) and pass the tree. you're now at the top of a hill that slopes to the left and down towards bishop. ride by the new elementary school or by loop st.@ hazelton. good slide hills and fun to carve. parts of the area make a valley so you dont need to speed check on the big hills.

the other is off of holland past the fire station. around windmill street and chestnut (by the apartments). that neighborhood has nice long runs, but gets really quick with little uphill to slow you down.

I'm in houston right now but I'm gonna get up there soon to chill for a week or so. i'm down to skate and should have a few people with me who are to.

P.S. if you wanna die, skate behind the timbers and saltgrass.

Death? YES! but seriously, what kind of speeds are you getting, and how long (minutes/miles) are they?

depends where you start. if you to the WAY top you have to snake around a bunch of crazy turns before you get a good straightshot. you better know where to turn, cause i've gotten lost a few times up there. after you find the way out though, you go down a steep blind run and shoot out onto a flat so you can stop in time before hitting the busy road below.

i dont really figure out speeds but i'll say it 1) is the fastest of the 3 spots i said and 2) scares me and i've been skating for several years and 3) has hurt quite a few skaters i've met. the cool thing about the area is that you can either take your time turning in the cul de sacs or learn the turns and start sliding turns and speeding from the get go. its super steep so it doesnt last long, but its hella fun.

the drawn out runs are off of Holland down to the bottom of N LBJ (hill behind campus) i talked about in the second spot. they get quick and curve but they have a lot of short uphills you can clear easily.
keep in mind, these aren't austin hills so the runs are usually pretty quick

haha Austin hills are very quick (with the exception of 2 or 3), I would be interested in checking out those hills...would you say it's about 40 mph or so? any hairpins? traffic/pavement quality?

the red and blue lines are essentially the paths to take, but there are cul de sacs that google earth doesnt show. also, the straights towards the end are all bordered by trees

if you guys go, snap some pics or some vid. it looks very fun.

i think my biggest concern on big hills is being able to stop on time. I learned in ABQ that I can't stop very well when going fast.

traffic almost non existent, especially during summertime (though it is an older-resident neighborhood so they might not leave)

the address of the finish is Sessom @ alta vista i think. san marocs tx, 78666. there are few roads on that hill so it shouldnt be hard to find a good starting place. pavement is nice, maybe some dirt or debris along the sides but nothing bad.

if yall make it out there i can give yall a couple other good spots
