tucson area shops
dunno if i'm missin one, but its either starr, or university board shop/peter glenn (same thing).
play it again usually has a gravity or so in stock as well.
anyways, university board shop review:
inventory:
boards: loaded dervish, vanny, fish. s9 bomb hills, trylams, bomb sketch, cosmic, etc, basically they good stuff as far as s9 is concerned. GFH boards i don't know much bout.
trucks;
randals (new black ones), seismics (green spring only), gullwing chargers and bombers, paris'
wheels:
gumballs, flywheels (90mm only i think), zig zags, big zigs (lime), usual s9 wheels, race formula S9, satori goo balls
bearings:
usual swiss, reds, FKD saws
sufficient hardware, angled risers i believe, etc.
misc:
cheap phantom tools ($4, i get em for 3.60, not bad), loaded gloves, grind king rims, carve stiks, etc
prices:
sonny keeps his prices in check. wheels are usually same as daddies prices. lil more expensive than mark's prices, but you don't pay shipping obviously.
employees:
usually i'd say completely idiotic. Sonny more or less knows his ####. he isn't a mark at all, but if he hasn't heard of a company or concept, he'll ask or find out on the fish before ya come in again. generally knows most of the basics bout stuff. if ya want something you wont get the "i haven't heard bout it, can't be that good" line, you'll get an interested look some questions. some girl is usually in there now for the summer, bit younger lookin i think, but she as far as i can tell listens in when sonny and i are talkin, and is lookin at the shop's loaded pintail w/ paris' and hotspots for herself.
overall, awesome shop IMO. only gripe is that they no longer carry anything rayne or landyachtz. dervishes also appear to be in short supply, they haven't gotten another since i bought mine from them a couple months ago. he says demand keeps all that stuff from getting stocked, but as said, they'll order it right up for ya.
*edit*head in there and ask for sonny, he'll hook ya up. seems like all the good stuff is outta stock, like dervishes, vannys for the most part, regular bomb hills, race formula wheels, and abec 11 wheels, but i know an order will be placed sometime. my friends and i bought up all the good stuff basically also i hear smiley's is decent cuz it is skater owned, idk bout what they have as far as longboards, seems like they have basic components from what i hear, and bearings etc are discounted if you come in w/ a friend that referred you
-KS m1 46", R2 180s flipped pin swapped, abec 70mm flashbacks, mad max abec 5s, hopin to get some abec bushings soon. (i <3 this board)
-S9 off the wall, deck only as of now. hoping for indy 169s, zig zags, and reds soon.
-Evo deck, somewhere in the mail
-dervish - sold
-tactis white terror - blue crails - white jimz bushings - 78mm blast waves - bones swiss
-zealous felon
