Just looked into this and thought it might be good to know.
§ 8-3-1-1 TOYS, COASTERS, ROLLER SKATES AND THE LIKE RESTRICTED.
No person shall use any toy, coaster, roller skates, skateboard or similar device either upon any sidewalk in any business district or upon any street, bicycle lane or bicycle path; provided, however, that any person riding a pedal-powered two-wheeled toy, propelled by human power, with either the front or rear wheel having a diameter of 16 inches or more and which is not supported in any manner with side "training wheels" is not prohibited from riding on any bicycle lane or bicycle path.

The shitty laws are the ones specifically for downtown... sure that one is out-dated but the rules for civic plaza are new and lame. From my experience the Cops will just #### with you until you surrender your boards, they'll spend an hour looking for the reg., and then give you a court date.
You and you buddies will show up on the date and find out that the tickets were never filed, and the call 12 cops just had nothing better to do than #### with you.
The knob hill cops are cool though, they are always asking if they can check out our boards.

Another Little-Known NM Law

So it's illegal to skate anywhere but inside a gated community...fortunately, Albuquerque cops are pretty laid-back, and won't enforce that law. Hardly ever, anyhow. I've had a few of them ask to check out my boards, though. And one very politely asked me and some other guys to stop skitching, because he "didn't want to see us on Jackass".
Here's another little-known NM law; although it's perfectly legal to keep a loaded and/or concealed gun in your car, it's a felony to keep a baseball bat in your car.
So, if you keep a bat on the floor behind the driver's seat, make sure you've got a glove and a ball back there, too. Like, a beat-up glove, and a baseball that's clearly been used a lot. If a state trooper or APD officer feels like being a hardass about it, you could get 5 years in the pen for "possession of a blunt deadly weapon".
My friend knows a guy who pissed off a State Trooper, and the trooper railroaded him over the fact that the dude had a bat in the car. Now he's got a felony conviction, even though he's not been in a fistfight since, like, eighth grade. File that under "W.T.F.?!"
Whatever, though. Really, man, the East Coast states and California are all crawling with nasty, busybody cops whom will rip a citizen's car to pieces/Taser/kill citizens at the drop of a hat.
We're very lucky to live in New Mexico. Here, the cops know that if they wrongfully kill a citizen, the victim's cousins will probably kill the cop's entire family. And his dog.
