greetings people of the fish, i'm thinking about putting to gether an outlaw race on a street here in the ne. heights called simms park rd. i was wondering many things, like is this a good idea, and what is an outlaw race? so anyhow, if this is a good idea, i was wondering if we need sponsors, and how could we get the word around without coppers finding out, and what would be a good entry fee? this would be a downhill race, it is not a technical road, but it gets fast, with speed up to about 50 mph w/ no headwind and good clean bearings. ideas? comments? a theoretical penny for your thoughts.
I've never been part of, or helped with any such outlaw races.
However I like them already based on their name.
What time you plan on doing this thing? Day? Night? Lighting? Is there traffic on that road? What's the escape plan if/when the cops show up? How are you gonna keep the cops from finding out? How you gonna spread the word in general?
I'm gonna stay posted on this thread, I like this idea already.
your board would work just fine, all you gotta do is tighten the trucks. i'll ride it on your board just to prove it.
Ok, and I've got full pads + helmet. I've taken it down Washington, from Constitution to Indian School going north. I kept up with traffic, the speed limit is 30, but people go at least 40. So I guess I'll be ok.

its a really gradual hill that you don't realize how faast you're going until you get to the bottom and try footbraking, then you realize you were hauling ass, and you did'nt know it.

fo shizzle.... fo sho. my dad said that in order to pull this race off, we need to either tell the park service that we'll be using the road, or that we need to totally make this an outlaw race. and he said we need sponsors for the event, for prizes/ prize money/ it looks more like a real event.

Go now, and devise this master plan.
If you are interested in outlaw racing you need to go to eastsidelongboards.com or northwestlongboarders.com. There are lots of outlaws in the PDX area (and many more in the northwest and Canada) from push races to a slalom death race to Billy the Kids "Burnside Bomb" on the 29th of June (50+ on city streets at 6am).

just so you know, its open all the way to the top from 7 am to 9 pm, after 9 it's closed halfway up for no good reason. it's fun to right at night though, cuz its hard to see the road in front of you, and you go fast. have fun bro.
OK, so everyone who want to do this race--- RIDE THE HILL BEFORE HAND.
Also, we could do the race really early morning, I'm talking 5:30/6 am. There is just enough light that early. (I know, I get up a 6...) this way we may be able to get a couple of runs in before we get busted and the rest of the road is open.

the road does'nt open all the way to the top until 7 am. i might contact the people up there and find out if they could open really early, or reall late.
wouldn't it be easier just to go at night? It doesn't really get dark until 8:30 now, and by then, everything would be getting ready to close, and the po po will probably stop caring by then. Also, should there be helmets/knee pads/elbow pads be required? I doubt anybody will have leather, but a few people may have face shields.
Haha i'll race down it in full hockey gear for 5 dollars
