    Default Arizona/Phoenix downhill spots.

    Hey AZ people,
Post here all your favorite spots to do some downhilling. Use exact locations! I have some but I'll get the exact address later.

1st street from where it crosses Tangerine on down to about where it hits Oracle is pretty steep. You can get going at least 30 or 40. Fun hill, too. Just watch for cars. The U of A parkig garage is great, too, provided you go at the right time.

not to mention cops, especially really the cars though. there are a lot of decent places out on star pass road, not much traffic, should make the trip sometime down from oro. no cops either.

    South Mountain is the BEST!

Going this sunday, can't wait. You should hit it up. Go up to baseline and central and go south on central. Park and walk to the top of the mountain and enjoy the 6 mile ride down.

    South Mountain is a must.
Fountain hills you can hit over 50mph
    Ahwatukee- more specifically Club West
there are TONS of hills. ranging from 25-45mph
Rio Salado+Mill Parking garage is amazing, but security always sucks.

You make a good point, except 1st between tangerine and oracle is practially always under construction and/or swamped with oro valley's finest and the dreaded 90 year-old tucson drivers.

The U of A garages are nice though. I believe the "right time" you speak of is around 5-8 in the morning. Seriously, if you can't sleep, go to those garages in the morning and you wont see a single cop or person (unless I can't sleep that night either).

There is a decent, hilly neighborhood to the east of the loop 101 and bell road. I don't have pictures, but if you go to

Longboarding Skateboard Store World Longboard Map Local124 in Edmonton - Home

and go to the world skate map and look up bell road and the 101 you will see the path that someone highlighted. The path encircles a couple of neighborhoods that are also hilly and provide an opportunity to pick up speed and practice sliding. Me and my buddy have gone there a couple of times; we're trying to make it a weekly thing ( even though we both work for the summer).

There are quite a few garages downtown phx, I always hit up the one on 3rd and washington. never ran into any security issues, but I am sure I will now that I said that. Would love to hit up south mountain, although it seems a little daunting for a lb amateur like myself. anybody down for ridin the 'tukee anytime?

    ok here they are:
-off of chandler is a road called desert foothills parkway go up desert foothills parkway right across the street from altadena is a gated community and the road called desert willow dr. the code for the little walkthrough gate is #01214. its a huggee steep hill but you have to walk up a bit.
-next one just keep goin up desert foothills parkway until you see a street called 8th street or moutian sage... its goin to be on your left.
-just explore in those gated communitys and most of them have good hills.
well those are just a few of the ones i kno...

i also heard that theres some gnarly hillz at the end of pecos..

Well, there was construction for like, 7 or 8 years straight, but its all done now, So 1st street from Tangerine to the Target shopping center is awesome. And if you turn off after the bridge but just before the Fry's parking lot, there is a long smoooooth bike path, with a little tiny hill at the beginnig. You can pump for like half a mile without stopping. Just watch for bikers and old ladies walking their dogs

beasil do i know you? you hit all the places i hit and you know all my friends...

    anyways highlands parking garages
mountain breeze down in oro valley but thats not so much downhill as just a bit of fast cruising.

La Canada bike path will be great once it finishes (like half of its done) but its a high traffic area.

Verde Ranch for shits and giggles. its basically half of 1st.
The bottom half of La canada if your suicidal.

thats all the spots in oro valley anyways

there's a lot in like deeper awathukee by the desert foothills park area. all the neighborhoods north of it are a little up in south mountain's junk. There are pretty good runs there.
I found this one hill in a neighborhood and I'm pretty sure it was anywhere from 25-35. there's a left corner at the end of the first stretch and it's flat until you have to make a right. after that it's down hill again. so that was fun. I want to explore that area more.

I only got one chance to ride the rio salado/mill parking garage with JustinS. it was a rush, but the next time we went we got kicked out by security so no guarantees there

Too bad that parking garage they're building off of I 10 and rays is private.

oh also clouded gate is an AMAZING run.
but its gated community and they hate us...

you CAN just run out and just take that one left to frys (STOP BEFORE THE END THAT LAST BIT IS LIKE VERTICAL)

but other than that its smooth and its got little flats and up hills to keep your speed in check but not so much that it slows you down.

just google earth it and memorize the number of lefts till frys. or you can just speed down to target and walk a bit of desert.

Talked about this spot in another thread. Finally found the right location for the end of the world run...Hummingbird (close to cheney) & scottsdale road. if you just look down the street you can't miss it at all. Starts off with a nice intense bomb (not ready to try till i get my orangatangs) to another small hill and a nice long 1/4 road. I've only started off the second hill, but its still pretty fun.

Cheney is also a nice little hill to carve, its got one of those police radars towards the top of the hill thats fun to cruise by and see how fast your going

ya and you can bomb Cheney if you want, At the top of the hill if your facing a mountain there is a driveway on the right, if you hiking to the top of the driveway and then hit Cheney you can fly, just make sure to get a good push and tuck at the top=)
