    Default South Mountain November Outlaw

I've been tossing around the idea and heard others thinking about it also. I don't know what an Outlaw race is but I think this fits the bill... So I'm thinking a big race. I'm thinking a 10 dollar entry fee to get into the race (other parts of the event will be free, you will only have to pay if you are registering to partake in the actual race for prizes). Money goes as prizes of for the rop 3 place winners of the race. Bring your own food, I'll try to bring a grill or some charcoal depending on if there are and grills already there. I can talk to some people and see if we can get a couple sponsors to do a raffel and maybe some other prizes for top finishers. Hopefully we can make this a pretty big event.

Helmets MANDATORY because this is a 6 mile 50 mile an hour plus course along the side of a mountain with a few hairpins and such. Bring leathers if you got em. This is an amazing run and few get the chance to ride such a run. No traffic thanks to the city of Phoenix and hosting silent sundays although we will have to do some biker slalom.

This is just some stuff I've been thinking, kind of a feeler, it's not certain but it's a possibility if we can get people to show. What do you guys think? Any ideas or suggestions?

Alright cool! We could have a newbie race on the smaller part of the hill. There is a steep uphill at about the 1.5 mile marker that will stop ANYONE that was going down the other part. After that the track gets pretty mellow but still reaching up into the 30-35 mile an hour range. We could have the faster race go from the top (which would be helmet and leathers mandatory) and then the race for less experienced guys start at the top of the next part.

And Christian, your idea about having a slalom race was really cool, maybe we could do that too!

Maybe mandatory leathers wouldn't really work out... I mean not many people actually have leathers.

Yeah I think we'd need to get a list of people who are interested AND have the necessary mandatory accoutrement. In fact, I'm not sure if any of you guys tried, but raffling off helmets / pads would be a great idea, since given a tight budget and a choice, people would buy wheels / bearings before they bought safety equipment.

BTW, ckurtz, did you get my pm about the parking garage?

Not a bad idea. I'm new to this so how would one go about getting these helmets to raffel off?

Maybe ask ckurtz and poopradio about how they conned those other suckers out of hats / T's / stickers for the Pusher? Hell, you could try asking a decent safety equipment company to donate. The reason I emphasize decent is because I was with my buddy the other day and we saw skater helmets on the shelves of Walmart for 12$. I'm all about the cheap solution, but I don't know if any of you guys would trust your dome to the lowest bidder.

Ya guys the key for me atleast , someone not involved with a company and im only seventeen, was to make a legitimate flyer with other low end sponsors and being well organized with all the info adn a date on lockdown. Once you get that far its as easy as making a few emails with tthe flyer in them and a few calls. I was able to get Loaded, LBL , and Tunnel this way. If you tell them they will be on the flyer , mentioned at the event, and shirts, ect. they LOVE getting representation. And it seems like the bigger companies like loaded dont mind giving away a few things. look into leathers and see what you can get them to donate, maybe a full set of leathers for first place , and tell them that you would give them sizes AFTER the event. I am more than willing to help push for sponsors just keep me up to date.

ya i got it, but it seems like everytime i go i get kicked out eventually. The later you go the less security, but they have cameras in the garage and there is a lady who drives a security car and sweepes the area

Well my aunt works at a sign shop and is a graphic designer so I'm sure I could slip her a few bucks and get a pretty bad ass banner to hang at the event. She could probably design a flyer for us also. I'll talk to her about it and see if she would be up for it.
As far as advertising what do you think about maybe getting a radio station involved? I'm sure radio broadcasts would get some bigger sponsors interested and I'm sure that the radio stations would be stoked to be a part of that kind of event.

Oh and Christian, all donators and sponsors would get to race for free.

Should I try contacting the radio stations first or the actual companies that would be donating things?
