That's pretty cool. Not very up to date. Kates nips isn't on there at all. I have a ditch slap map somewhere at home I need to scan and put up here.

I came out skating to ABQ week of 8/20/08. I was in town from North Carolina.
I skated with some awesome locals, and went out to eat dinner at Blakes afterwards with them. Got some fun footage on the camera.

    Y'all are awesome.

Has anyone tried to map the arroyos using google and the elevation/distance path stuff?

    See the attached.

I use google earth to find local ditches. I've found several of the ABQ ditches, but I don't know when I will make it out there.

    Ya, google is cool.
You install google earth on your mac or pc then bring it up and zoom in on the arroyo of your choice. Then click on the ruler and choose path. Then create an excel spreadsheet that plots distance and elevation. Do some calcs and a miracle occurs and out pops a plot of relative slope vs distance.

    Attached is another one.
As I get time, I'm mapping all the ABQ ditches.

I'm mapping some of my local spots as well, back here in NC.
I posted one on another thread with a photo.

What I do is map the spots I've skated and figure the slope in % (100*elevation loss/horizontal distance). I have an idea of the speed of those runs since I'm familiar with them. Then I drag the cursor around to other sites that I've never skated and find similar slopes and zoom in and map them. Then I drive out and walk up the run to test their SF (stoke factor) in terms of road conditions, locals, bailouts, etc. Then I drop in and taste the wind. Then I share the stoke. Ha ha.

I was out last time week of Aug 20.
I think it was MANCADE that I skated with. I think that's the silverfish name he gave me.
It was a privilege to skate with the locals at the Bourque.
    You live on sacred ground.

I'll be out again early November. I'd love to sk8 with y'all if you'd put up with me.

    Try this tool.
    Plot your start & stop,
then plot then under the action bar check plot elevation

Bicycling, bicycle, bicycle parts, bicycle trips, bicycle tours, cycling, cyclists

it works much like google earth.

Too busy to skate much here in NC...

I did get an EastSide board that I want to try out on the arroyos when I get there in November. I've tried it twice here and it's a great ride.

I'll post when I'm going to ABQ as soon as I find out...
Believe me there's a lot of really cool locals to skate with in ABQ, and
yeah hopefully we can skate in NC on a weekend if I'm not on travel.

Some of us post on the nc thread in the southeast connections...

Keep up the good work. Afghanistan has a lot of good men from Bragg.
I grew up in Jacksonville, NC, next to the Marine Base.
There's a lot of us back here praying that God will watch over you and your unit and bring you back safe bro.
