Well the City denied my request to close down the mountain for a large race but we can still do a bunch of little races once a month on Silent Sundays. We'll have it set up where anyone who wants to race on Sunday can pitch in 20 bucks toward a prize pot. This could still be a lot of fun just on a smaller level lol. The first one will be this weekend on sunday. If you are interested in participating go ahead and call or text me.

Riding down the mountain won't cost anything because it's a public event, it'll just cost you to enter the race.

well shame it wont be cosed down. but tom and i will be coming up there to participate sometime. be warned, the state now knows who you are and what you wanted. if people are riding south mountain they'll probably talk to you first.

Oh, it's totally legit. It's called Silent Sunday. They close down the road one Sunday out of every month so bikers and skaters can ride down it. The only thing that sucks is that if you wanna ride from the very top you have to either walk the 4.5 miles to the race start area or hike up the 2.5 mile trail.
hows SM for an intermediate rider?? I'm not looking for anything rough, I ate it at 'end of the world' a couple days ago so I'm not ready for a big bomb yet (still a little sore) tho but something fun

What's "end of the world"? Sounds fun
SM I would say is an advanced run. Speed around 45-55 miles an hour depending on your tuck. Some pretty good sweepers and a couple 90* turns. The only thing that makes it really scary is the fact that you ride along cliffs.
End of the world is around camel back mountain, there are tons and tons of short hills you can bomb all over the place, Hit up lincoln and take that right by the mountain and just turn off onto one of the streets and find yourself a hill. I havent hit it up with my new evo yet but plan on taking my comet up there or up to SM today. Is it safe to ride SM when its not silent sunday or are there tons of cars?

The SM road is only open on weekends, they are doing construction the rest of the time. There aren't TOO many cars. You would *probably* be fine if you went really early in the morning. There are a lot of bikers on the road so people are generally used to watching for peds.
