i live over on potranco and 1604 , anyone near me lets go skate!
i wanna bomb that hill that enters medina!
Hey man welcome. Us SA riders like to get together but hasnt been happening much lately (cept for the austin trip). Lets plan something for this week? Your over by sea world right? Are you talking about Medina lake? Im not familiar with that area and dont know of any hills over there, whats the name of the road I can look it up on maps. I live more in town (olmos park area), one of my fav spots is stone oak. What hills do you usually go to?
you guys skate stone oak?? me and my friends skate there every night about when we are all in town. We know of alot of smooth and steap hills around if you are interested and some semi sketch parking garages w/ an elevator. you should check it out. im in colorado at the moment but i'll be in and out of san antonio a couple times over the year

If you havent yet, try canyon golf (same intersectioin just coming down a different hill) its a great cruiser but watch out for the sprinklers at night. The parking garage we usualy hit up is on 1604 and stone oak inbetween some shops and some sort of medical building. watch out for the securitas but they can usualy be deterred by a green tip at the top.
The neighborhoods are the way to go for practicly limitless runs. just watch out for the more run down roads like in parts of arrowhead and stone mountain. those pot holes and rocks can be deadly at night. RIP Ian Fincke. For some great open slanted parking lots try the old worldcom (now i think its like washington mutual) building off stone oak more towards 281, on sundays it is completely open and runs 360 degrees around the top of a hill. And other than just some mediocre hills, the only other pointer i have is this hidden hill that connects mountain lodge and the fairway bridge, back there is probably the steepest hill ive found, purely meant for sliding so bring some gloves
Hope that helps, i should be in town around thanksgiving so if anyone has any other good spots around town let me know, id love to see what other people consider their playground.
i'm new to town and ride a board i made with a friend in a garage and am looking to buy a new board. i'm looking for a local skate shop or anywhere in town that sells boards. thanks for the help

Welcome to brown town, me and a few locals are going to try and meet soon. Nothing too structured just a skate for fun sesh. Mainly to come together as affilation and possibly some press photos to post on the fish showing that we do actually exist and skate. The skateshops in SA (goodtimes, evolution skates are the biggest) are complete morons when it comes to longboarding, they don't even carry Khiro (WTF!!!)
I have an arsenal of longboards and out of everthing I own only shorty's hardware and risers were ever purchased in SA.
Good luck.....and stay in touch with this tread.

Sam, I have a 46" sector 9 pintail if your looking for a cruiser kind of board for sale. Currently there is a guy from houston thinking of buying it but its not for sure, if he doesnt I would be glad to sell it to you, its in good condition.
Thanks for all the locations JJ. We def did try canyon golf, that is one steep hill. You say there is a bigger one you use for sliding? Would bombing it be possible? There are some other hills I know that are not as steep as stone oak, but are good for a mild DH or a fun carve. I usually hit up olmos park since I dont have a car these days and its a 5 minutes skate from my house. What do you mean RIP Ian Fincke?

Welcome to podunck town ("brown town" - he can say that) where the ever growing still not organized underground longboard society resides. Many of us have skated with one another but not yet as a whole. Soon to come though.
Ya, the longboard inventory, especially components only is, lets see, "0". The place I used to shop was a little off the path mom & pop shop called "First and 10" I went by the other day and it was empty, gone, kaput. They were good folks, just not too serious, in my opinion, about their business. I'll never understand why it was called "first and 10".
Anyway, I ordered 2 sets of wheels from Daddies in Portland and with regular mail they were here in 3 days. Don't spend the extra $$$ on freight its not worth it.
As far as our longboarding community, we'll be getting together soon as a group, I hope, before too long.
OK Ya'll (you guys), let's try to get it together. We are rapidly closing in on the end of Daylight Saving Time which ends the first weekend in November. It'll be the last Saturday evening to skate at 6:30 pm and still have enough light for an hour to hour and a half to see and be seen by. The good news is, at least for us early risers (not you Sly), its going to be light at 6:00 a.m. the next (Sun.) morning. WHAT!!! 6 A.M.???? Ya thats right! What this means is almost any road or neighborhood we choose to skate will be asleep, for the most part, we can handle the amount of light traffic that may exist. Hey, you guys ever hear of "early bird gets the worm", or "can't sore with the eagles if you fly with the owls"? Nothing's worth anything without some sacrafice, we're only talking about a little sleep.
Alright, I'm going to get up on my soap box. I'm revealing my age here. I could be most of you guys' dad and maybe even your f _ _ king grandfather and still out party you till "the stinkn' cows come home" and still get up at or before the crack of dawn, (or what the f_ _ k just stay up all night) and go do something I really want to. It's not a challenge but it can be. Ok, ok I'll ease up a little. A couple of weekends ago I went up to Austin to watch a bunch do some serious DH'n. Fairly well organized with exception of starting too late. It was scheduled for 9 a.m. but truly didn't start till 10-10:30. By then too hot, too many cars, sherrif, not enough time. So wake up and smell the coffee and let's bomb something, somewhere early Sun. Morning.
Suggestion, and please chime in with yours: Lets get together at 6 p.m. at my office in Olmos Park Sat the 1st. We'll quickly meet and then go skate a local fav. a couple of times and then pump downtown on McCullough. Maybe have chase vehicles for those like grandpa here that may need some assistance (NOT!!!). Or maybe hit a garage somewhere. But for those serious DHers, meet at 6o am on the 2nd out at Babcock and Scenic Loop. It's 1/2 to 3/4 mile run with long gradual curves and 40 -45 MPG possibilities. I've done it, it's good, and there will be virtually no cars for a couple of hours.
