re: San Antonio LongBoarders - SLAB!
fun skate today.
Mike, luke and I met up at my place about 10 this morning in order to set out across the SW side of town to see what we could see and skate what we could skate. I have been seeing stuff here and there for a while but only passing through, I didn't know how good or bad any of it was gonna be. Luckily it wasn't all that bad.
We didn't have much luck with the first few runs. They were ok, but nothing special. They looked bigger than the were.
We found one hill that had this super cool sidewalk access up a steep incline, flat on top, and then down another steep sidewalk ramp on the other side. The rest of the hill was fun too. We made a friend with a stray dog, good omen.
We ran across a middle school that was very Garcia Heights esque only the turns at the bottom we much more committing, especially the frontside turn. It's not really a run to drive across town for, but it's right by my house so if anyone is ever in the neighborhood we'll hit it up.
We looked for runs around Adam's Hill but there wasn't much, mostly bad pavement and 90* intersections. We did one long run, probably around 25ish. 25 is much faster when you have to slip between those stupid rubber speed bumps with only a few mm's to spare!
After that we headed in the ghetto lol. Some places were pretty bad, not too much to skate between Lackland and school. We hit up some spots I had seen around base.
One of the runs was fun as crap. Maybe 25, 90* left, 90* right, fast section to another 90* right to the runout. Nothing special, but not something I would say wasn't fun. The bottom of the run after the first left was peppered with trashy little red-headed kids with nothing better to do than start trouble. i think the biggest one (maybe 12) actually thought it was some kind of proof of his manhood to stick his arms out and glare every time we drove by. He needs to get beat up by some other neighborhood kids, or get hit by a car or some sh!t.
There's some construction going on down that way that will actually be a run that might be worth driving all the way across town for. Luke and Mike seemed to think it has potential. I'll keep everybody posted since I see it every day after work.
We headed still further south and into a random, really nice neighborhood with wacky solar system names for streets. We did one run that lasts about 2 minutes and is both fast and technical. If you're like me then you'll be able to magically attract cars to the intersection in the middle of the run all 4 times you try it. Maybe the stars just weren't lined up for me! lololol. I did do a sweet pendy though and got to feel the rebound on soft venom eliminators. worth sliding out I think.
Afterwards we headed back towards my place and grabbed some cabana bowls. We hit up the mystery ditch I found near my place. It was fun although I don't really have a board for it. Not too long after we showed up the dude in the house who's yard borders the drainage asked us to leave. Sucks to be him cuz I'm definitely gonna be hitting that place up all the time once my ditch board comes in.
I decided to pass on driving out and skating reagan's run. It was already 3:30 and I was pretty beat. Not skating much in two weeks and then skating all day definitely takes it out of you.
I'm definitely gonna try and make an appearance at the RB sesh tonight. even if it's only for an hour or so.
Luke: great skate man
Mike: dude you were like the old dude in the surf lineup who waits for the good waves instead of paddling for all of them! showed me a thing or two about picking runs. props.
peace

NOW, NOW BOYS!!! YOU MUST REFRAIN FROM INAPPROPRIATE LANGUAGE ON THIS HERE THREAD.

If this would have been Tom's car he would own all those boards and more carbon fiber would be present. Hey TexB why you don't have stickers on your car?

This is a really good shot, such irony.
Big kids being kids, they already found the fountain of youth.

re: San Antonio LongBoarders - SLAB!
Hey slabers,
either this friday or saturday (depending on which one gets more votes) I'm going to be holding an "event" for the RB guys on campus. It should have a small race, slalom(assuming we can barrow some cones from someone) and a raffle. It's going to count for a project i have to do for school, and no we do not have "permission" to be doing this but there is no school those days due to thanksgiving holiday so F it. If anyone can go i would appreciate you showing up. it should be from 7-10 on whatever day gets more votes. Hit me up for details. looking for potential raffle prizes.

Luke: I'll show up dude, sounds like fun. what's the race gonna be? top of the parking lot down art building? Long way or short way?
My early X-mas present is supposed to get here on wednesday! I'm so stoked! Might have to hit up the rim on the new durians/slide A's.
It's supposed to be like 30* tonight...where did summer go?

good point. but its still guna be this weekend. if we don't get to do the slalom cause ppl are still on campus oh well. i don't see the rest of the stuff being hurt. mayb we will just move that to the last event. i'm guna be using that thanksgiving holiday to write up a 10 mutha Fing page report about the event so it stands as this friday/saturday again depending on votes.
the race will not be from top of parking lot, gota keep it fair so that those with rediculously more kicking/pumping abilities (anyone from slab) don't just blow the RB guys outa the water. trying to give a handicap in a way.

I dont know about you but i am loving this weather. I skated highland park today in a hoody and wasn't dying by the time i got home. I can take that right 90 degree turn at full speed without breaking my tuck on the topmount with your raceforms
