ha man its cuz we do things all backasswards here in abq so when we see someone who knows how to do things we just get jealous cuz it was hard for us

all i'm saying is when they've got their use out of something, they toss it aside. my first grip of threads were vicious. sorry to all. i've had some time to think about it if jade reads this i apologize. thanks to all the fellas keeping me real.

i have to say tho that if i can convince one person not to shop there, ill consider the time i spent there a success. I'm sure she's hired some chill cats who know something about boards. When i worked there, i was the only person with any knowledge on the boards. The koa nalu silverfish page was my idea. The skate school was my idea. Working with timeship was my idea, and as soon as she thought my imagination was tapped, she fired me. All i wanted was to work on longboards, for the love of longboards.

    jade doesn't care about skating.
i base this off the time when jade looked me in the face and said, "we only sell longboards for the fact that this is a surf shop and skating is like surfing"

ill stay off this thread from now on. Thanks again for keeping me real.

    peace

    the man has a point
Jade is there to make money end of story
she no longer has anyone working there that has any knowlage of skating at all
when i asked her why she hired more people who also don't care about skating her reply was that she didn't trust skaters. i personaly think that is no way to run a skate shop and its going to be really sad when Koa Nalu is no longer around because of the way it is run.
I tried my best to help while i was there and really did put a lot of work into the store and making it better but i can't help if Jade isn't open to other people's opinions on how to run a shop. she just has no idea what she is doing and is sure she does.

oh well gives me more time to skate

Well look at the bright side.

If/when they do go out of business, they'll have the SWEETEST clearance sale ever in the history of sweet things.

i gotta put in my 2 cents on this thread to. James West is my homie and him not working at Koa Nalu means that they have NO ONE who works there who knows how to set up a board proper for any given condition/riding style.

i'm not sure what Jade's deal is, she has flaked on me BIG....without going into a long story, i'm not to stoked on her or her store...while they do have a great selection of boards/wheels/etc....BUT if you don't have a knowledgeable staff to sell stuff, well, good luck...
to go for a skate is to go for a drift, to explore the streets looking for hidden places, opportunities for creative misappropriation; it is to recombine the artifacts of production and reinterpret the city for oneself-ocean howell

Um... What age do they hire at? I want to get a job this summer, but I am only 14!!!! Cliffs already has enough people, and albertsons doesnt hire at 14 any more... If Koa Nalu hires above 14, anyone know other places that would hire me?

P.S - to the guy that said
I don't know why this thread turned into a cesspool of hate directed at Koa Nalu, but y'all really should stop raging this hard over such a small thing.

Personally, I've had lots of good experience with the people there, and until they do something wrong to me, I'm gonna keep going there. I'm not gonna boycott a store just because someone I don't even know on a message board tells me not to. Especially with what little evidence that has been provided as to why it would be a bad idea to shop there besides their prices.
your totally right!!! I went there, just started THINKING about getting into longboarding, and the peeps there were all like, "We no mind you dont know nothing..." and actually helped me!!! Now I am an avid boarder and love it!!! All you stinkin cesspools of hatred out there go get on you generic board sold to you by people who don't even care about boarding, I DONT CARE ANYWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! As long as you don't bother me, Im not gonna bother you bro.

    Funny story-

Tiana and I were in there the other day talking to Joel(?) discussing logistics about having our boards there. A customer was looking at boards and started asking questions to the guy working there. The guy who works there then directs all the questions at me... because he knows I know more about skating than he does... I was like, 'Really? You work here and you're asking me what boards are good for what?'
Whatever... They have good stuff (ghoti boards!).
