Best Spots in Texas
Me and my buds have been boarding everwhere lately and are looking for new spots to explore. Austin has got to be oneof my favorite places i have been so far. Does anybody have any other recommendations

I used to work in Marshall, Tx, and the downtown area is ok for shorter runs, but nothing like West Austin or Bee Caves. I've never rolled there, but I did live there for nearly a year in between decks and I always thought it would be a great place to ride. I would check out Hill Country like Fredricksburg, or San Marcos maybe. Basically, if you go west from Austin, you run into some gorgeous country with tons of Hills. Houston is the pits if you like hills. Your only options there are parking garages and skateparks. But there are a few people on here from H-town who might say otherwise.

TheRosen can correct me if I'm wrong, but next time you're in austin, head west on Barton Springs road off of Lamar. Before you get to far, take a left by Flipnotics coffee shop and you'll be going straight uphill into a neighborhood with lots of hills. Be careful though b/c the spill outs are steep and go straight into roads w/ heavy traffic.

haha yes, those are quiet large hills, but a terrible idea to ride...they all spill out into Barton Springs Rd or another road that is also huge (can't remember which one it is)

Re: Best Spots in Texas
You turned a couple streets too soon there. You want to turn left on Robert E. Lee (a good hill) or take a right onto Barton Hills Dr. and explore back there.

Re: Best Spots in Texas
Best spots, in ref to what kind of riding? Ive recently found here in san antonio a nice mild, but long enough rd, slow acceleration but by the end your pushing mid 40's (if your boming) on a straight away. Plenty of variety of hills to be taken here. If you havnt yet, I suggest looking into using google maps to find hills in your area, or which ever area. It really is probably the best tool a skater has to locate hills and scope them out before skating them.

Re: Best Spots in Texas
There's no doubt, there's some nice long would be kickass runs with the exception that most of these roads are topped with tarr and twice grind recycled asphalt. Best for use when you are out for a broken windshield. I cruz the hill country a bunch and there are very few good ol blacktop roads anymore. I have found some of the best runs are freshly paved roads of a new development which as of recent had been popping up all over the place. Good travels.
