So i was at Carve yesterday and Scottie was talking about some kids at Edwards got busted by the cops...anybody know some details? Im like 99% positive they were shortboarders which brings me to my next point...why the hell are there shortboarders hangin out on the top of the garage? There are plenty of WAAAAAY better places to ride a shortboard...anyways i think that if we still wanna have Edwards as a place we can ride we need to make some changes so the cops will stay clear...First i would say no saftey meetings! I know i just pissed off alot of ppl but really man...there's a time and a place for everything and there isn't one of them...Second, If you're drinking be 21! If the gaurds start seeing what they think is partying they're gonna call the cops...Third, i would say to be no shortboards and no slide boards...they're just too loud! Fourth, dont park your trucks or cars on top of the garage...not only does this endanger the riders coming down while you're going up but it also brings way too much attention to us when ppl are blaring loud music...I love loud music just as much as the next guy but yet again not the time or place...bring some headphones if you wanna jam while riding...Sorry guys but im not just b####### to b####! Edwards is def a centerpiece of the Houston longboarding community so lets keep it that way!

This is Edwards. It gets hot sometimes. It'll cool down. This isn't your prime hidden spot that people are ####### up for your crew, it's like the city hall of garages. Spread the word, lay low on it for a while, let the fools get arrested, and come back when the heat is off.
As far as rules go, keep it simple: No graff/vandalism, no fires... that's about all I can think of. Granted it's been a minute since I've skated it, but I can't imagine too much has changed in a couple months.

Saftey meetings are smoke sesh in the wells...which pisses the security gaurds off which means cops...last time i was there there were 6 or 7 shortboarders just sitting in the well smoking for like 2 1/2 hours...then ride around the top of the garage and try and do kickflips and #### and then go back in the well...I swear if they get the cops called on us bc they are smoking im gonna beat the #### out of them! The gaurds are cool if we are just riding and hanging out...but keep pushing and they're gonna push back and its not gonna be pretty....
as for "city hall of garages"...I know! Thats why i said what i did...yes i have no authority but i did say a lot of things that a lot of ppl are thinking that regularly hit Edwards...
I dunno man i just wanna race on the 7th and if these lil ####heads dont stop being so stupid and careless they're gonna ruin it for everyone!

POWER TO THE PEOPLE!!!! yeah i am even putting my safety meetings on hiatus or at least somewhere else and i don't think we should attempt to ban anyone although the noise from shortboards and sliders is pretty loud. but we can be gracious enought to at least ask that they tone it down... then beat some ass, lol but at least make em walk down the street before we start stompin people lol
but he is right from what ive heard it just has its hot times and the idiots that cause it will get themselves caught

Why would you smoke out the stairwells? It seems like smoking on the top floor would be just if not more convenient and not stink up the place. 'least that's how I've always seen it/done it.

Yep gunna go with you on this i have done it in both places and i enjoy knowing its not gunna stink and that im not in a closed in space

Wow, thats a bummer about yalls town hall of garages. I would personally not attempt to drink or smoke while skating a garage, just because I know its very likely to get kicked out and a security guard could pop up at anytime. Theres really only one garage here in san antonio where we can have lengthy sessions, wouldnt wanna mess that up. With the popularity of longboards and the lack of hills in houston, there wont be much a few individuals or one crew could do to cool down the garage. Ive seen videos of edwards and it looks like an awesome skate, good luck with keeping it available. And not getting tickets.
Ok, Let me just say this. Safety meetings fine, I will admit I agree more with doing them in your car or at least off site.
But really guys, don't blame the cops showing on safety meetings. Those go on all around town at all garages.
The reasons Edwards keep getting busted these days is very very easy to determine. Edwards had no problem when it was just people occasionally skating, not messing anything up. Then as word spread that became the garage to hit. People start going while cars are still in it, staying there 6 hours at a time hitting no other garages, basically hanging out and chilling not skating like it was a club or your friends house (ON TOP OF A ####### PARKING GARAGE? GET A ####### LIFE!).
That led to boredom leading to graffiti, the cars blaring stereos, the drinking, and finally #### like pissing, not only in the garage itself but in the nice ass elevators as well. We and all of Edward's money paying customers use and then complain about the smell in that garage especially the elevators. Don"t think you got off because you piss on the top floor concrete. It still stinks and is illegal. If you need to piss while at edwards, you have been there to frigging long, LEAVE and stop to piss on your way to another garage, stop helping it get busted. 60 people pissing there a night tends to make the owners a little angry. They did not spend millions of ####### dollars on a 9 story concrete toilet for YOU!
How do you fix this situation? Act mature to start. Also from what I hear as a former Hou-stoner, it is well known who pissed in the elevators. Not only that, but the guy who did it was at the frigging race and NOT RACING. Not only that, that person and associates started ####### #### up at the finals garage and then wanted to fight over it. If you know who is causing the problem then let it be known that when they do they will get trounced. If someone tried that #### in Austin they would not be riding with us anymore without a HUGE apology and reparations made.
For now I would say you guys CANNOT ride Edwards. When I say you guys I mean all longboarders. You have to leave that garage alone to let the heat die down for a few months. If shortboarders want to go there let them be the ones getting tickets and stuff. They will get the message once no one hangs there anymore and then they will stop going themselves. Then once the police realize no one is going any more they will go there less frequently on patrols. At that point, you may go ride it an hour or so a night. Go really late and don't be dumb and greedy with it.
Go ride different garages for a few months and let the only people you know are skaters who will respect the garages know where your at or will be going to.
Sorry for the novel here but I feel strongly about this issue. You guys need to protect your turf. We aren't some punks going around bored to #### #### up we are chilling and skating down a hill, easy going, free flowing, peaceful good time, until someone ####s up!
Also you might want to purchase some air fresheners that do not leak or stain or anything and leave them in the elevators as a nice gesture to make up for some of this. you could also get together as a group and talk to the owners of the garage and let them know how much it meant to you and how loyaly you would defend the place. but they are not even going to listen to you until you get a large group of volunteers to scour that garage clean for free.
Or you can tell this now Austinite former hou-stoner guy to shut the hell up.
I agree it needs to calm down a lil bit but when did you go there XprettyboypaulX? after 130-2 seems to be a good time to go as long as you wait for everyone to leave and you dont mess stuff up. Its a fun garage that is plenty wide to pass people and have fun but there are other garages, just ask around. Right turn garages are nice for me cuz i ride goofy and there are always faster ones too.
But yea, i agree be respectful to where you skate and they will usually not care but when u mess stuff up that just screws it up for everyone.
