Default Ditch Slap 09!! ABQ, NM

Just wanted to start some talk about ditch slap, discuss which ditches to skate, when, and give people an opportunity to get ahold of some locals, IE me.

the ditch slap SHuttle passes which you will get on the first day and are your "lift tickets" for the event have these ditches on them which you can punch on the pass when you skate them:

    The Bear
    Indian School
    Morris
    La Cueva
    Kate's Nips
    3-mile
    Harper
    Layton
mayble another one i forgot...but we'll be skating alot of ditches....

and FYI, just cus you are a local does'nt mean you can pay the day of the event. you have to register on ncdsa.com and PAY Timeship, like NOW. 60 rider cap.
to go for a skate is to go for a drift, to explore the streets looking for hidden places, opportunities for creative misappropriation; it is to recombine the artifacts of production and reinterpret the city for oneself-ocean howell

The Ditch Slap sponsors at Timeship (understandably) try to prevent there being a monster turnout of spectators...because A) it's against the law to skate in a ditch, and B) if they have tons of rowdy drunk shortboard idiots screaming and yelling, inevitably the cops have to show up and actually bust the race.

Albuquerque cops are really laid-back, and pretend not to see folks bombing Indian School, for example, but outlaw races have to be discreet and careful not to piss off the neighbors. Point being that you're not going to see accurate Ditch Slap schedules posted all over the Internet. Better luck word of mouth. Ask around.

Truth. Yesterday I talked to Joe, the organizer, and even he is not sure of the final schedule for the event because of the reasons you mentioned. If you can't be at registration today, get some phone numbers. Have people there call you about the dates, times, and locations. <-- pretty much exactly what he told me.

    What's the deal?

Did it go on, or get shut down?

Sounds like the authorities were on the prowl.
    Anybody know?

Another day of no problems from authorities, however we only got to race one of the two ditches originally planned because the second had some water in it. Bear should be tomorrow...
