Default My dad's probably taking a job in Incline Village, NV

Well my SW friends it looks like I might be moving out to Nevada. I've been yearning to move out west and basically anywhere more beautiful than Michigan, it looks like the opportunity has arose (even if it is right when I got the greatest girlfriend ever.) Anyways, what's the skate like out in Incline Village or surrounding areas? I've been trying to check out the roads out there and it looks quite hilly, and I mean it is called INCLINE Valley. We're going to be coming out there sometime the week of the 11th, so anyone want to meet up and show me or my family around? Anyways, get me stoked on moving and leaving my girlfriend.

Incline Village sounds like a skateboard utopia. Hope it lives up to its name and its not one of those tongue in cheek references like a huge guy nicknamed Tiny. As far as the gf thing, this is part of Gods folly. You will probably spend the rest of your life thinking about what could have been. No girl after will ever assuage this gut wrenching reality, and you are doomed to live the rest of your life in doubt and quiet desperation. But hey, good luck man!

Haha nugpop I knew you'd chime in with some charming wit. I'm not too concerned, I believe God has a plan for everything and this is part of it. You from NV?

lucky: Seriously? I know snowboarding is huge so maybe I'll get back into it but I do enjoy falling on pavement more. I know that sounds weird.

No, never been. But it sounds like the Gods are smiling on you based on the previous posts. Nothing like a good run to cure the soul. Besides, if worse comes to worse, you could always buy a hot temp gf down there legally until the right one comes along.

Dude welcome ta NV!! There are tons of hills!! But they tend to go to hell after a winter or 2. But this place has been expanding so much. That for every road that we lose we get 2 more. There really isnt a huge downhill scene. Hell in Reno it seems like im the only 1. But theres a ton of carvers!! With their Sec 9 completes the bought from Zumiez!!! But as soon as i get a new dh board I'll so take u out. If ur down to just carve around I'll bust out my gnome. Also look up the Reno Longboard Club!! Its BRAND NEW!!! Only well 2 members. )

Liven2diE: Right on, I'm not moving out there for sure or at all yet, but I'll definitely be out there from time time. Carving's fun too, but I'll be dammed if I don't bomb a hill (*cough* Michigan topography *cough*). I'll hit you up when I'm in town. How far are you from IV?

latenite: Oh, absolutely, I just normally hear "look out for bros." True story: I was almost bro-raped.

Technically you don't have to leave your GF, because you can finish college here and then move to wherever you want. You are not tied down to your parents.

But those hills out west will be nice.

I live in south shore and know about hills ranging from small to holy sh1t WTF how is that even allowed to be a hill. My advice get some 80+ mm wheels because snow does more damage to the road than meth to a rednecks teeth. Every fall they have skate the lake in north shore for breast cancer. Get a snowboard and a pass to north star next year. You won't regret it. As far as north shore for the big hills you might want to check out the donner lake area. But sadly serious dh longboarding is all but non existent in tahoe. Everyone is too busy doing drugs or getting drunk

lol, I don't think so man. God's plan was to let us figure it out. I don't get why you'd move with you parents if you're an adult in a good relationship in another part of the country... seems strange.

Dude, I'm from Michigan. If I can find 1 person to ride DH with I'll do it. Are you serious about the roads though? If so, that's garbage. Currently I'm running 72A for my commutes and 66mm 83A for DH. Is that because of all the snow and stuff?

Thanks for all the advice and kind words all. We'll see how this pans out. If you're from the area, let me know what's up!

Pete, my parents have a condo in the Tahoe Keys (South Tahoe). As a result, I have spent plenty of time trodding around the entire lake and surrounding areas. You will not have a problem finding worthy hills, and the road condition is about the same as Michigan (rough, but we can handle that shiz fo sho). Your Grapey Apes should be able to handle it. If you decide to move, I will be visiting as frequently as possible. Incline Village is a beautiful place to be and you will surely not be disappointed.

Awesome thank you so much for all the input. Such a small world, who would know someone in my crew has a house out there.

Anyways, if you know anyone in my family ie my sister, keep this on the DL, eh? She doesn't know. I figured knowing what the skate is like before I move is the #1 priority, followed by telling the little sister.

    Mum's the word.

By the way, there are some pretty crazy hairpins on the west side of the lake near Emerald Bay.

i live in the Keys what street is your condo on? I have skated emerald bay road before it is insane. The reason for the cracks is snow plows tearing up roads and water fills the cracks freezes then makes them bigger.

Sick dude, I've always wanted to skate with you. When I visit should I bring my speedboard or slopestyle board and what kind of speeds are these hairpins at Emerald? Full face material? I'm getting a bit stoked. But let get me this straight, you're from South Shore, CA or Lake Tahoe, NV?
