Street Luge Gear Used by Gravity Sport University

finally, someone made one...!!
i hate the height of a regular buttboard...
it needs more leg extension though...

Re: Motion Gear dropped buttboard
I wasnt sure it was for sale when I saw the first link.
I think that is an awesome deal. Cheap way to get into streetluge.
Simple 1 piece design. Bet its lighter than haulin an RBros up a hill too.
Do you think its a race-legal classic luge?? Must be Streetluge class.

Re: Motion Gear dropped buttboard
won't be race legal, unless the rule gets changed...
the board would also be great for someone who don't care about racing,
and just want a stable luge that's compact enough to fit in a trunk...

Re: Motion Gear dropped buttboard
According to IGSA it is a luge. because it's so low and has handles.
But still pretty cool.

Re: Motion Gear dropped buttboard
They used to sell them with three or four truck mountings as well...
maybe the alu' fabricating cost too much for them to keep a bunch in stock.
shrug

I must say i find it kinda odd that the buttboard they sell is a full inch wider...
very logical design though.
I imagine some 6"9 guy is seriosly contemplating one for standup.
The earth shall inherit the meek.

Re: Motion Gear dropped buttboard
I bet that 4 truck mounting is an add on.
To be honest Id rather hit 100kmh on this, than on a welded and bolted monster.
Id also guess that this would survive a crash better than a steel frame rig.

LOL, that would be awesome! My friends already use my board (Subsonic 46) for buttboarding. I'm 6'9" and 250lbs.

You're never to tall to be above suspicion.

Re: Motion Gear dropped buttboard
That is NOT a buttboard, it is a street luge.
A well designed metal luge will last longer, and take an impact better than a wooden luge (I practically ruined my buttboard this weekend by simply running into another buttboarder ON the start line)
Although this appears to be a good design, and it is a fairly cheap deck. I am sure it is built to withstand IGSA street luge rules (but not buttboard rules). I've never raced one, nor have I seen one raced, so I can't comment on their handling characteristics.

Clearly a Street Luge, as far as IGSA rules go... but, yeah - butt luge - the best of both worlds. The front handlebar and extra truck were discontinued for now because the cost to make was high but mostly because it isn't needed. The handles are perfect but may not be "legal" to race. The Sport has never been tech inspected at a competition. The whole point of the Noreaster Sport was as an introduction to Street Luge.
The one piece mega laminate deck has an incredible smooth feel on the road you'll never get on a metal 'luge. There's more plys than you ever thought could be pressed together, part of the reason it is only 11" wide. It's so light on the dollar, why wouldn't you try one...? Of course, if you're 6'1" or over the current Sport won't fit you. I have gone over 65 mph on one with NO issues. I'd love a chance to run on a REAL hill and see what it can really do.

Re: Motion Gear dropped buttboard
I really like the "butt-luge" idea.
ease of transport, and more stability...
hey skateluger, (tim?)
i always wondered about those "skateluge"
i like the sit up position,

The trick to keep your Skateluge from wobbin'... sit forward and keep carving. The Skateluge is most fun when you're turning - slalom is a blast. If you lay down on one, sit too far back or try to go too fast yer gonna eat it.

Re: Motion Gear dropped buttboard
it seems like you got the same problem i experienced... (using a buttboard)
maybe that buttluge will be more stable in the 'sit-up' position...

Anytime you wanna ride... I don't ride alone and there's nobody around here that wants to street luge. Let me know and we'll go... The last location I rode (in Princeton MA) was infested with 'luge hating police officers.

Re: Motion Gear dropped buttboard
Do it nueros!!
I guarantee,... luge friggin rocks!!
I want one of these. I dont care what anyone says about IGSA safety rules, I dont want to race one,... I just want to occasionally ride one,...
This fits in the boot too. Ill ride it,... doin crunches is good.
I recommend Tracker Fastracks for a luge (buttboard),... have you tried them skateluger?

Haven't tried the Fastracks. I'm still working on a case of ABEC 11 Flywheels - 83 mm, 75s - when I run out of those I'll look all ALL the great new wheels that are out there.
Crunches, yes, do many crunches...
