Default DH SKATEBOARDER, getting into Classic luge

    yes thats me.

i have been recently getting more and more into butt bard or classic luge, or whatever you wanna call it. the other day i went down one of our hills in rocklin/sacramento that we call "Backside" and went 55mph down it, it was awesome. and on that same day i went down a technical road, about 2.5 miles long, average speed around 40mph, with intimidating and in my opinion pretty hard turns. i was able to keep up with the speedboarders on it which was suprising to me considering it was one of my few attempts to actually legitimately try to Luge down a road. i was doing it on my rogers bros dh-40 which is where the problem begins.. the IGSA DOES NOT ALLOW CLASSIC LUGE BOARDS TO BE CONSTRUCTED FROM METAL, ONLY WOOD. i do want to get into racing buttboard in igsa races eventually.. but i dont even know where to start on making one.. someone who knows what to do please help me out

Gettin into luge, eh? Fastest luge run is going to be on Iron Point. Try it out!

Otherwise you could peruse the builder's forum.
This is Silverfish, take it with a grain of salt. It's fun to come back to at the end of the day, but nothing beats the real deal. Make your own judgments and form your own opinions. Remember whose lens you're looking through!

Allright cool, sounds like you got it down then. If you dont have anything lined up by the race, I might have a spare buttboard you are more than welcome to race. Might need to put a fresh set of wheels on it, other than that its good to go.

For sure, you are more than welcome to set it up the way you want. I will have to double check that its drilled for Randal baseplates. I know it has Indy 215s on it right now...

Considering you can get a plank of plywood in the 8 - $20 range, yeah building a buttboard is cheaper than buying a premad one.

But all the rage in buttboarding is formed decks, with concaves and various "drops."

Still the cheapest way to get started is to get a piece of plywood and cut one out. Add some stiffeners to the bottom (either real ones, or a small strip of wood) the main purpose is for hand holds!

You'll enjoy a reall buttboard more than your Rogers Bros deck ( makes it easier to hold your legs up)
And the main reason for rules calling for the board to be make out of wood is to keep the price down.

    Have fun at Bonelli.

Our attempt at a camera mount. The board transfers too much vibration to the mount though.

IGSA Rules specify a "minimum ride height" of 80 mm. That is Everything but the trucks and the mounting hardware has to be 80 mm or higher.
