Pretty sure that you have to use just wood to compete.
one of the points to the class is to keep the boards as accessible as possible.

the following is cut/paste from the rulebook

DECK: Must be made of laminated wood.
The deck may have molded features such as a kick tail, but must be one piece.
It may be any shape within the size limits.
Nothing may be added to the deck except for the following:
    1.
    Foam padding to the top.
    2.
    Non-aerodynamic stiffeners to the bottom.
    3.
    Skateboard-type grip rails underneath.

let me start off by saying i know nothing about this, but it may be allowed because of #2 cuz wouldnt that be what the carbon fiber is doing? stiffening the board?

For the IGSA, it's wood only and it has to be made of one piece, 7cm from the ground and no less. French regulation (blackkross) are a bit cooler with rules... Though you can add stuff to make it more confortable... that's it...

Pete Elliot rode a black kross at the worlds at bathurst last year, so however they are made must be allowed.

Sweet is right on... if I tech a Classic I don't allow any metal or composit reinforcement at all... the rules are on the IGSA sight...:cool2
