    Default Cheap Woodie

Made a wood sled for about $50 (sled only) and figured I'd post it. Took it out for the first real test run and was probably about 35mph. Felt really comfortable and stable. Made a classic luge back before the winter and didn't really get into as much as I hoped but this looks promising.

Going to add some paint or something to seal it up, some padding/grip for my neck and back, and already changed up the front peg. And some light bumpers too.

Longtime no post in this thread:
    DSCN0875 | Flickr - Photo Sharing!

Finished product with a few little tweaks that aren't in the photo. Hit 45, had some fun with some kinda turny roads, success for me. So hooked and already in the design process for version 2.0.

Really looking to do a 3 truck set up, running 76mm wheels. Still sticking with a wood sled. Two big ideas ima mess with, hinged back so it can actually fit in a typical car trunk, and recessed wedging into the wood.

Three trucks? I don't understand how that would work... But looks good, I'm tempted to give it a go but my town's too flat.

Ya, there are sleds out there that use two up front, one on the back. Or even two front, two back. More traction. Buzzed precision truck company actually has a luge truck that's two baseplates attached so it's just one piece bolted to the front.

But wouldn't they turn weirdly? Like you know the front wheels on some lorries they have two sets of them up front and they turn at different angles, wouldn't you have to do that?

Yes, you need the outer truck/s to turn slightly more, otherwise it turns like a slug.
it's a pretty easy thing to dial in though, classic is to just add a washer, but a touch of wedging is likely better when done right.

    edit
I don't think Daz is worried about turning with this sled though, since it's doing 'drag'.
