    Default IGSA North American Championships

The IGSA North American Championships will be held November 18-19, 2006 at Frank G. Bonelli Park in San Dimas. The race will be held on a new unique course that will use the top 2/3 of the regular high speed Bonelli course but make a hard 90 degree right hand turn at its' fastest point that will require braking and a lot of technical skill. After negotiating the corner the course will head on down a long straightaway to the lake. It promises to add a whole new dimension to racing at Bonelli and I have heard more than a few racers who are intimidated by the prospect. This is an IGSA Continental level points event.

Originally we had planned to make this a three day event but due to budget concerns we have decided to cut it back to a two day race. We will have registration and technical inspection in the afternoon on Friday the 17th for those who want to get it over with so they can maximize their practice time on Saturday morning. Glendora Mountain Road (GMR) is only about a ten minute drive away from Bonelli and there are riders planning to ride there during the day on Friday.

Badlands Skate Crawl: On Friday November 17, all racers are invited to join the first annual Badlands Skate Crawl. Three of the best skate parks in California are located within 10 miles of Bonelli Park. Upland and it’s famous 22’ full pipe, Montclair and Chino with its’ clover leaf pool. We will meet in the pit area at 4:00pm to figure out carpools and leave at 4:30pm. The plan is to skate Upland from 5:00-6:30pm, Montclair from 7:00pm-8:00pm and Chino from 8:30pm-10:00pm. Afterwards we will head to a local restaurant for pizza and beer. This is a great opportunity to skate some great parks and have some laughs with your fellow racers. We’ll also invite the skate media to come out and capture all of the action. You won’t want to miss it!

The schedule will be Friday-Registration and Tech, Saturday-Registration and Tech, A.M. Practice, P.M. Qualifying, Sunday-A.M. Practice, P.M. Racing. Entry fee will be $100 for the first class, $25 for the second class and $15 for each additional class. Riders 17 and under will receive a 50% discount on their entries. We are also working on organizing a racer party on Saturday night. Rumor has it that there are some really fast Canadian and European riders along with present and past IGSA World Cup and World Champions planning to race. This is shaping up to be the biggest race to happen in the Los Angeles area in many years. Complete details along with registration and entry forms will be available at www.gravity-sports.com in the next few days.

A "clip" from Jeremy's past. Watch out for the Wrath Of Kahn! Great to see him back on a luge again and a speedboard. I won't mention who built this wonder sled but it is a good thing Jeremy bagged this ride and got on a winner.

Great racing today!! JOHN ROGERS wins the StreetLuge class, and TYLER WENDTLAND wins Classic Luge!!

We'll have a report up on Tuesday, but look here Chris Chaput's photos and also in the 'Fish Galleries. The Day 1 gallery is up and full (over 800 shots), and the Day 2 gallery will have more photos as I get the chance to unload them from the cameras, etc...

More importantly, I'm real confident that Tyler Wendtland is okay, but haven't gotten through to his folks yet. He went through the bales at just under 50mph in the StreetLuge semi, and took a hard hit to the back of his head, just at the helmet edge. He was alert, and grinned when I asked the medics to check his prostate... If anyone gets news, post it. Also, Justin Kludy's got what looks to be a broken wrist from his stack in the DH semis... He's fine and you can see him laughing in the shot we took with the Coast Longboarding crew.

Tyler Wendtland update: I just got off the phone, with Tyler. He's sore, has scratches from hay...and a big knot on the back of his head. He's otherwise okay, and the docs gave him clearance/okay regarding head injury.
