First off let me say this in the past there have been quite a few wheels made out of Aluminum.( Its not a new idea) Advantages range from ecstatics (Style) to function. Depending on your taste and admiration to engineering aluminum can make a skate wheel look cool. As for speed, handling, rebound, ride and duration of wheel all this is a variation of the wheel itself. Grand Prix Wheels incorporates 3 bearings. The middle centers both half's and eliminates any side tolerance (vibration) . Keeping all 3 bearings in parallel on the axle keeps the wheel truer .Replacement features of the side Rims is easy and one size will fit all our Tires. Like buying new wheels and tires on your car we intend to have this same concept. Aluminum does dissipate heat from road surface and bearings much faster .Weight is about the same but the ride is different. Our 75mm has 78A and soon a 80A.. Our 88MM is being develop and soon will be extensively ridden before it goes to market. We plan on riding them at races, and Out law runs , weekends bombing down Palomar Mountain, if they hold up we go to manufacturing, then print layout, boxed and ready! We understand their are many wheels out in the market to ride.We don't plan on dominating any one sport we just plan on making a wheel with the a design made for going as fast as possible .

rick, i guess i don't understand. what keeps the "bearing holder" and
"urethane wheel" together? is it just really close tolerances and friction? or is there some kind of lip or notch i can't see in pictures? i would hate to lose the urethane part at speed. if it is just really close tolerances this is probably something i'm going to want to check over time after every run, right?

Sean, the pictures in the wheel forum may help you out a bit. When you see them, put this into your mind's eye:

    1) the aluminum sleeve that's got the urethane on is bonded to that with a mechanical lock and a chemical one.
    2) the interior surface of that aluminum sleeve is annular: it's two slight conical surfaces that meet in the middle.
    3) the aluminum bearing carriers are machined to match the conical dimensiuon of the outer hub, and are larger than the hole in the middle of the wheel...they cannot pass through.

The Rim's will always stay the same..... Only the Urethane you choose will be taller...Every wheel... fits all. Thats what makes our wheels soo cool .Its like buying new wheels for your car... (once) then buying any size that fit your wheels...
