Ive been getting back into luge lately (i mostly longboard) and i want to build a better one. The one i have is from when i was 12 that i built myself. its fund but it has a slight desire to go left . Now that my woodworking skills have improved im going to build a new one. I want to meet IGSA regulations so that i can race at bainbridge if it happens this year. I know their site has the regulations but can someone tell me as simply as possible what i need to do?
Be smart, no sharp corners or parts that stick out and can hurt other people. Consider going pegless, They are easier to travel with and safer to ride with. With pegless it will be pretty hard to go over length and with maximums.
if you're looking for simple. make a buttboard.
max size is 48"x12"
can't weigh over a 13.2lbs (or 15lbs. if you want to race GSI).
no floating axles (unless you race GSI. they allow it)
no ceramic bearings (unless you race GSI they allow all bearings)
70 mm wheels only
minimum ride height 80 mm.
If ohio doesn't happen you may want to look into Ascutney, VT on June 9th or Madison County Gravity Fest on July 28 & 29. They're both GSI events.

p.s. if a buttboard is too simple try darren lotts gumball machine. google it and you'll find images of the finished product. the very detailed designs are here http://www.darrenlott.com/gumballmachine/
