Seems pretty awesome, 70mph on your first day is pretty sweet and it looks like in general to be a sweet place to luge/skate...
I was thinking I'd either do it as a teaser and to learn about it etc... but I may also build my luge (my dad is helping me out) and learn on it with their help, I'd definetly be riding it around here but wouldnt be hitting 70mph...
Plus I dont own leathers (looking into it though) which they give you...
When I got into luge 3 years ago I saw that site, I hear they dont do it anymore, and they were actually selling that 'school'. I see their luges around now and then.
I always thought not enough poeple would be interrested in doing it to keep the school open. I would love luge school, even know I already know how, it would be a good experience. Goodluck with that.
It took me 3 years to go over 60mph and I dont race (although I have everything I need to do it, and it costs me $$$) just couldnt find the safe road to do it on, and got kicked out of my park.
I talked to Steve Pearl, owner and operator of the school a few months ago. Steve's school was going along just fine until he got a serious injury at an event in San Francisco that left him mostly paralized and stuck in a wheel chair. He is still has passion and is interested in running the luge school and keeps the website up, but he cannot personally or physically run it. He has all the contacts, permissions, insurances and business plan, but needs a couple of real dedicated and serious people to run it for him. The business had some promise. Not so much to make anyone rich, but to sustain itself as classes got booked. Besides a few people that just wanted to learn luge, he had a few corporations that had fun days away from work and offered the luge lessons and day at the park as a way to team build. If you know of anyone that is safety minded and has good business sense and practices, wanting a part time job running the school Steve's way, I am sure would appreciate the call.
