You could even do without a boom. In fact, I MUCH prefer boomless.
And a demonseed is nice and big, so it might feel nice. Do make something to cover your knees/legs from dragging on the wheels, else you'll be spending a lot of time thinking about THAT instead of riding and having fun.

IT has been done before with limited performance. One of the racers from back in the NSLA / RAIL days was a blacksmith and made and sold long board to luge conversion kits his trademark was DeLugen. It was basically a steel tube bent into a large loop shape that elongated the longboard. It had a headrest on one end, handles and foot rest. It bolted through welded on tabs on the loop in 4 places to the longboard that was prepared with 4 large T-Nuts. It worked OK and the price was cheap, but weight distribution across the trucks and a bit of flimsiness feel kept it from being a race winner.
Yup, some buttboarders who speedboard, have won on their speedboards, a long time ago.
Demonseed, Evo and such other dropped platform boards would need handles, or else the second you lean in grabbing rail you wont have any skin/leather covering your knucles.

I think I saw Werner Bucheral (sp?) race his speedboard in the buttboard class probably 4 years back or so in Ohio. The problem is that any drop platform speedboards would also not be legal according to most buttboard rules (not to mention the fact raised above about killing your knuckles).
It is an odd rule because in theory buttboards are supposed to be low tech and based on people riding longboards, yet most top of the line speedboards today would be illegal. In fact, I think the story goes that most europeans didn't like the lott classic design because it didn't look too much like a longboard (or maybe that was the bob ozman buttboard).
However, I believe drop through truck mounted buttboards are legal, but check the rules before racing.
I also heard that Darren Lott was racing pegless luges years ago, but they would have been illegal when EDI organized either the x or gravity games, so he ended up attatching a pointless boom just to pass the rules.
