has anyone tried dismantling a dirtsurfer and tried reattaching it to a luge board
seems like it would work, and have real potential
but there is probably some obvious thing i haven't factored in

They probably don't come off easily, but bolt the wheels + how the wheels attach to the place where you stand, bolt those to a luge board, i'll try to draw a picture of what I mean today

Well, the wheels come of a dirtsurfer fairly easily. They are essentially bicycle wheels.
But why would you want to do this? Unless you have 4 wheels, the luge won't be steady.

You`ve obviously not ridden a Dirtsurfer then huh? More stable than any skate truck I`ve ridden.
I like the concept of a Dirtsurfer/Luge! Make one and see how it goes. If you pull it off well you might just open up a whole new style of Luge riding.

Thanks, I have ridden a dirtsurfer. Where are you going to put the front wheel? In front of your feet? And the back wheel? Behind you? Can you paddle fast enough to make it stable? Your bodys center of mass is too low, can you effectively turn it without it tipping over?
Again what is the point? You already have a dirtsurfer which works fairly nicely... You have a luge whihc works fairly nicely, why merge the two?
it could be fast!
there is a guy in France who sit on is ditsurf to ride it. He is pretty fast!
the front wheel could be between your legs, and not lay down completly to keep a short wheelbase.

I suspect your biggest problem will be deck width.
At the widest point, the dirtsurfer deck is only 8.25" (front) -- 7.25" at the rear. Lean too hard into a turn with a wider deck and your rails will be tearing up the pavement.
just ran across this thread,
interesting idea,
still waiting for a chance to try a dirtsurfer,
i seen pics of those guys grabbing the frame like a handlebar...
i have ridden low-racer recumbent,
cornering is fun as you are low to the ground,
but when you loose traction, you go down real quick...
and I got a pic of a pedal powered luge as well,
