Portland Oregon lugers out there?????
I'm wanting to connect with any street lugers in/around Portland Oregon. I have a luge(I built it)and would appreciate meeting up with anybody who has anything to add regarding this sport (who, how and where to go about it?)in the Pdx area. I don't care about your experience level or if you are doing it currently or not...seeking info and luge buddies if possible.
I called Daddies and they say the luge scene is underground here and there is not even one club they know of. Ouch.
this is my street luge. I realise it looks different than the average. it grew from a home-made kiteboard(to be before plans changed)and I made it pretty much from stuff I oddly, had laying around. It is 74" overall and I split the single rail that usually extends to the front into two. it is VERY comfortable ans secure to ride. I used an inflatable kids ball under the headpad so I could adjust my head position EXACTLY how I want and it absorbs road bumps amazing!!! the but pad and head pad(black)are made from an impact vest! the inflatable ball retainer is the bottom of an office trash can! The body platform is of laminated pine. I have two foot psotiions(super flat or knees up, which helps in turns). I used a front door mat for the back grip portion of the board.
I only have cheapo(but strong) 'no name' trucks on it right now with 60 / 80a wheels with boses Reds. I realise that I can do WAY better in this dept and I will put something far better on before spring or sooner...but it rolls real nice even now.

There isn't one club ANYWHERE that I know of.
You might want to jump on Daddies fourm, and maybe go riding with some of the standup guys,

What they do here is referred to as "butt boarding". Check out PDXdownhill.com, specifically this thread (you may have to register first): Buttboarding lives!
Hope that helps.

Have no fear, all of our boards are made by malnourished, 7-12 year olds inside a coal mine in Madagascar.
