Yeah Nick I was thinking the same. Seems like a lot of people break those.

I am a long time speedboarder who decided to do street luge this year at the FoS. I have to add another level to the scary factor of street luging; when you fall you have a 40 lb object to dodge.

A loose skateboard can break ankles and cause damage, but nothing is scarier that a street luge that flies into the air. Fortunately most street luges have now converted to the boomless style, so it isn't as much of a risk.

I just remember at Mary Hill me crashing into a hay bail, my street luge (which is old school and has a boom) forked into the bottom of a haybail and slung up into the air and was scary as hell to roll out of the way.

If you are in your luge, its almost impossible to 'fallout' of it..I have 'bailed out',, before going over a cliff once.. but thats because I had time to do so.. I don't recommend doing that..Over all its not as bad as people think...Its amazing!
