Default Monster Hawgs SUCK for sliding

Especially if you are new to it. I have had the worst time this week trying to learn to Coleman. I can do it if I grab the rail (not stinkbug), but oh my friggin' god. I tried without grabbing today. My board kept straight down hill and I was on my ass sliding along side the board. These wheels just DON'T wanna break loose without going Mach 5 which I am not comfortable doing yet. I practice the stances on my front yard. I am very comfortable applying the principals including punching the parrot. But these wheels. Bad choice on my part for buying them. I need different wheels for sliding for sure. I tried to loosen my trucks to give myself some more carve into the slide but I start to get really bad wobbles once I get around 20mph. I can ride them out by lowering my gravity but it doesn't help sliding. I just make a really tight 180 U turn. I have to grab the rail to break these wheels loose. I am a moron for buying these. OK rant over, now to regroup and fix the issue.

They'll slide fine just keep practicing. You'll get a lot better at being able to control your wheels.

I am sure they can slide well for someone who is already good at sliding, but what about a noob? I have to get going faster than I feel comfortable unless I grab, but even then I can't recover the slide to go back down hill afterwards. Wouldn't harder wheels, these are 80a be better for me? I can get these to break loose at around 15-20mph by grabbing. I am not comfortable going faster just yet till I know I can stop and or scrub off some more speed. How else can I make these work? Should I just get harder wheels?

Just keep sliding and breaking them in. Eventually you'll get a good slide out of them.

    what Duro?

sometimes it harder to get lower duros to initiate (unless they are fly wheels) , it just takes practice and rounded edges

Those are different wheels. I should have gotten Hawgs. I have the Monsters. They are wider and grippier.

Mine are the white 80A ones. But They are so squishy. They feel even softer than the other 80a wheels I have felt.

I will keep trying till I can afford to get harder wheels. I need to come take lessons from you. Always very helpful. Thanks so far. I do think I need harder wheels though.

    Wheels
No its not debatable, this vid was made before mini monster hawgs were out, and mini-monster hawgs do not slide like that. They are white hawgs (i've been told they're the same as orange hawgs but don't quote me on that). If he were sliding monster hawgs in that video he would not slide for nearly as long as he was in that video.

oh, in that case, no, they are not the same wheels. although they do look similar.

The ones I have are the minis. Sorry my bad. I should have said mini. I have a set of Monsters too that came on my other board as well. I am gonna just save those for when I get more confident. I am on the search for some 70mm wheels that I can have some fun on without killing myself trying to get them to break free. It's quite scary when you are a noob like me and you are stuck mid-Coleman and your wheels are still glued to the ground and your board is dragging you down the hill I can laugh about it now of course.

Practice!! Don't listen to them! New wheels aren't going to slide themselves for you. Keep breaking them in, keep practicing. Hell, once you slide on those you'll be able to rip anything.
