Default How short is too short?

I'm getting my fist longboard this summer and I would like to learn how to slide. I've emailed Jeff from Bozi because I was unsure about the Mad Bomber vs the GS36 and he said the GS36 would suit my puposes better. I'll be using it to bomb/carve/cruise/commute to classes. He said he was out of the GS36 though and to check out the Insects ang Roe Racing decks. I'm considering both Roe 36 inchers and the Insect Cutaway(34in) and Dragonfly(36).
Is it easier to slide a longer deck or a shorter deck? Also which of the above mentoined decks has the best controlled slide?

depends on what you want to do:

shorter longboard will spin faster than longer ones enabling mutiple spins on one slide after practice.

both the Roe + Insect boards are flexy which is cool for carving. but the flex can make a slide unprdictable but with a bit of practice your get a hang of it!!!

I learned to slide on a flexy board and after sliding on a stiff board i didnt really notice much of a difference.

its very twitchy learning to slide on shorter boards though. i think that longer boards feel better when sliding

Thanks guys, I'm going for a shorter board anyways, sub 40 because I will be using it to get to class in between hill and garage sessions.

Get an Insect Dragonfly or Roe Bonita/Eldorado. Excellent board quality. The Dragonfly is more suited to crusing and sliding.

Alright guys, I have decided to screw the under 40 inch thing and get an Original Freeride 47. I had one out in a garage and was able to break the urathene loose on the flat ground, and in the process had a ton of fun. Thanks, and I hope the topic helps someone else.

the shorter the wheel base the easier it should be to slide, thats why pool boards work nicely and also why faltown skates and lush's sliding models are basically pool boards
